I'm a poor hispanic male with no friends, and no plans to attend college anytime soon. If I join the Army, what should I expect /k/?

Would I be able to support myself financially and build a family after I'm done? I'm already off to a bad start regarding the social aspects of life.

Some guy told me once that I haven't truly lived until I get my first knife wound/STD, and the Army might just be able to give me both.

Holy shit are you me?

I joined the USAF and fucking hated every second of it. Everybody was at this weird place where they managed to be pompous without having a lot going on to back it up. I was about 5 weeks in and couldn't stand the people and realized the next 4 years of my life would be with these people so I just walked up the MTI and said I wanted to kill myself and got the fuck out of there.

I noticed similar stories in other asocial people like me (and I assume you) who join the service. Some stick with it but all find it awful. It takes a certain personality to join, one that a lot of people have, and they aren't bad people either. It just depends on if you like quoting Anchor Man 500 times a day. It's literally all Chads, again not bad people and I am thankful somebody has the mindset for that shit, but it's fucking misery if you like being alone 95% of your life.

Not really on any of those. You might not end up crippled in some way or another and you might not get kicked out for some reason. Then you'll never really fit in the civilian world at all because you got mentally fucked at some point too. The VA will try it's best to kill you since the Army failed at that by then.

Seriously, the military blows and now that it's really caught up in the PC snow storm, it's only gonna get worse, much worse.

I've noticed that too, literally the most surface level tier of people in America. I'm half expecting to find people in the Army from different crosses of life, but in reality, the type of people who voluntarily join the Army have more similarities than they do differences.

What did you do after you left Anon?

Actual person in Army here. I'd say it's one of the best decisions you can make if you're not going to school and have no job prospects.

This is coming from someone who joined the Army when I could have done a multitude of other things.

Scored a 94 on the asvab, and I picked a job that takes more brain than muscle (25Sierra). However, (idk how to say this without sounding like a condescending douche) I was still leaps and bounds above my peers in terms of critical thinking, and general knowledge on different subjects.

But!! I never acted like I was above anyone. We all ended up in the same place. It's easy to fit in with most people in the army, just accept that you're not going to be discussing the philosophy of Sophocles, but rather bonding over the MRE Shits in training, and fucking with new people once you're in your unit.

You'll make lifelong friends, and memories that most people in the world won't even get the chance to make.

Sure, theres bullshit, but if you're mentally tough and prepared, just put your head down and get through it.

Also, your risk of dying is becoming very unlikely unless you're infantry of SF. 99% of the jobs in the Army are support, not front lines.

Also, I should say that I don't plan on retiring in the army. I got in, they taught me a skill, leadership skills and discipline. Only have 2 years left, and then they'll pay for the 2 remaining years of college that I need.

Best thing I can say is learn more than one profession. It's not hard to be competent in multiple fields. I see another Anon mentioned HVAC. My father has been an HVAC tech for 20+ years. It's good money, but accept that you'll be in the beating heat probably more rhan you would be in the army, including 120+ degree attics.

That being said, because of him I know now how to fix just about anything that breaks on my home AC, minus an entire system replacement. He also went to mechanics school before that, so he taught me car maintenance and repair, sans an entire engine rebuild. Now I know how to work on and manage satellite coms thanks to the Army, and I'm going to school for Cybersecurity.

I view my time in the Army the same as a private company hiring me and paying for my training. I got to serve my country, while learning a useful skill that will increase my value as a potential employee.

It's all about having enough skills to be an asset to employers. Critical thinking is a big one too.

I hope my rambling helped in some way, anon

You have to go back

You get a job and the benefits of a socialist society for 3-4 years, and the opportunity to attend pretty much any 4 year degree paid for at any school, and have a good career and life afterwards.

Or you can blow all the money you make on a sports car, alcohol, and girls, don't learn a skill/trade, don't use the GI bill, and come out of it worse that when you went in.

Up to you though.
>>
>>34692827
This. If you have nothing else going for you then why not? It sucks but you'll get a lot more out of it in the long term than some minimum wagecuck job or something.
>>
>>34691725
A lot of waiting around. A lot.
>>
Since there doesn't seem to be an enlistment thread up I'll ask you fags.

What's the oldest age at which I can join the US army to become an M1 armor crewman?

I want to do it eventually but not for several years, preferably in my mid to late 20s.
>>
You're gonna be that guy that cuts other people's hair in the barracks. Get up for it.
>>
>>34691725
Base pay isn't amazing, but housing allowance and other benefits more than make up for it (that's if you get married and get out of the barracks ASAP, otherwise life is hell). Otherwise, your MOS and duty station are going to be a huge factor in what to expect. Experiences vary.
>>
>>34693296
As far as I know, MOSes aren't age restricted. Enlistment age max is 35 (you have to be able to complete BCT before your 35th birthday, more accurately). The age to get in is lower if you're trying to become an officer.
>>
>wanting to be the armed hand of the corporations

Join the CG instead or go do some trade job and enjoy some cash.
