Probably not. JSDF in the mid 50s had jet aircraft, but that aside were largely equipped to the same standard as their WW2 counterparts. It wasn't until the 60s that they got new tanks, armored vehicles and rifles either (M47 and M113 derivatives; and the Type 64 rifle respectively)

They still lose, their new wonder weapons almost certainly buy them more time and hurt the US more, but don't solve fundamental raw material and fuel supply problems for them. Muh island hopping and muh nukes get all the attention, but once they fixed their initially shitty torpedoes the USN subs did a better job than Germany managed in terms of ravaging shipping, even if in this alternate timeline they're able to hold onto their territorial acquisitions for longer and even get some significant useful production from them, getting that stuff back to the home islands isn't going to be easy, and the whole reason they were going on a conquest spree to begin with is that Japan got a real shitty spawn location in terms of local raw materials.
