That bad boy is the ISU-152. Nicknamed the Zveroboy (beast killer) because of what it did to Panthers and Tigers.
The gun was not a fancy high velocity anti-tank gun, but it didn't matter. The shell it fired was like a trash can full of high explosive, it was so massive and powerful that it would rip the turrets clean off enemy tanks and send them flying. Failing that, a hit to the hull would cause massive spalling inside enemy tanks, almost invariably killing their crews.
It was somewhat crude, but if a Zveroboy hit you, it was all over. It was so powerful, in fact, that Soviet testing showed that if a 152 hit the front plate of the vaunted King Tiger, it would not only cause significant spalling, but cause the welds to crack and the front armor plate to fall off the tank.
Scalpels are nice and all, but sometimes you just need a big axe to get the job done.
How many saw action?
I know very little about tanks, but this sounds like slavaboo nonsense/masturbation

This is what an ISU-152 HE round did to a Panther turret.
And this is what aircraft do to King Tigers
Germany really should've focused on building their Haunebus instead of big tanks.
Air > Land every time

152 mm ricochet from panther upper glacis
Stuka bomber against kv2
>>34685667
You realize this was used almost exclusively against static enemy positions and did not perform very well as a tank destroyer, right?
>>34685915
And so began the lovely Russian tradition of turret throwing.
>>34685667
Interesting, I saw one of these in the IDF tank museum recently, was wondering what it was.
And this is what happened when 88mm met ISU-152 first
>>34685667
That is SU-152, based on KV-1 chassis. ISU-152 was based on IS chassis. Nonetheless, 152 was overkill for most of the german tanks it met.
>>34685868
That's naval bombardment specifically in this case.
>>34685915
Do you think it made a 360 after being blown off?
>>34685968
Was it supposed to have an enclosed turret?
>Germans put heavy tanks in front to try and shield combat group
>Soviets put heavy tanks up to 3km behind the T-34s because the latter is fucked at any range so they might as well stir up big gun targets by driving in first
>Americans make Sherman crews larp as heavies
Wasn't a lack of manganese midwar the primary cause of german steel being brittle and prone cracking?
>>34688610
I guess so. In any case, the armour of German tanks indeed became more and more brittle as the war went on.
Pic related.
>>34688207
It was a fully enclosed tank destroyer, so yeah, it really cooked off hard after it got penetrated.
>>34685667
>>34688693
>Keep off
Yeah, that'll keep people froom shooting at it.
>>34688370
>Sherman crews larp as heavies
LARP as artillery more often than not.
>>34685667
You think your gun is big, huh?! I'm not gonna lose to you!
And so the Slavaboo vs. Wehraboo shitposting begins.

If it's easy enough to troll /pol/ do you thinк /к/ is anymore resilient to trolling for easy lulz?
Friendly reminder that a m8 greyhound took out a tiger tank

No, its well known that /k/ is one of the easiest boards to troll. It's fun to watch the fireworks though.
