The metal that blank guns are made of usually can't handle the pressure of actual cartridges, I'm sure some could handle certain live ammo but the majority can't.

Full length 9mm Luger cartridges doesn't fit in a 9mm PAK magwell.

A 9mm PAK pistol converted to .380ACP can sort of handle it if you replace the barrel.

Ultimately you might have to seat the bullets back into the case to make them fit, which isn't exactly safe.
