Does anyone else have a problem with Marlin 60 failure to cycle? I went to the range today after scrubbing my Marlin with a toothbrush in a bathtub for 2 hours then oiling it. After 200 rounds it turned into a bolt action.

Sometimes it was a failure to eject, sometimes failure to grab a new cartridge, whatever that's called, and rarely it was failure to extract. Is she just dirty or is something wrong with my rifle? None of the parts are broken or deformed as far as I can tell.

If you used lots of oil
>too much oil
If you lightly swabbed with an oily rag
>not enough oil
If you used oil at all
>try grease

I think I used a proper amount of oil, so I'll probably try grease. Would axle bearing grease work? I've got it on hand.

Not like it's the same gun or anything, but I had similar issues regarding extraction with an old mini-14. Turns out it had chamber erosion and the extractor claw could only get teh rbass some of the time, because the round had wiggle room on a closed chamber. Get it looked at by a smith OP.

How old is it? It may be time to change the magazine tube spring.

FTF falure-to-feed
FTE failure-to-eject
FTR failure-to-recycle (or fire)
Which one op? Probably could use a good cleaning.
If it's newer with the two piece feed throat see pic. The end of the lifter spring is the ejector and can get bumped out of position on a jam or cleaning.

Cont'd
Don't be afraid to take it apart for cleaning. They are supper easy to work on. I get them all the time for cheap because the start having issues and fuds dump them instead of fixing them. Never had one beat me yet and once they are shooting they are tack drivers. Pic is a Model 75 that wouldn't feed and all it needed was cleaned and a new buffer.

You're kind to try and help Anon in this way, but you have to remember... he's a Millenial. They're not known for even doing the slightest modicum of extra work to help someone who is trying to help them. As far as he's concerned, he's done all he's willing to do, and feels entitled to an exacting answer delivered in a way he can understand.

He won't post a pic of shit, the lazy little cunt.

I'm an unashamed inveterate tinkerer. I can not understand this attitude. I have been thrown out of stores for trying to dismantle shelf samples to see what's inside. The Marlin 60 strikes a chord in my soul.
>>
>>34681752
Anybody else think the M60 has WAY too high of a cheek comb? I have Asian-tier cheekbones and I can barely aim using the iron sights unless I put them in a higher position than I need.

If it didn't have sentimental value, I'd have sold it. I might plane it down and have a normal stock, but sounds like doing a lot for a 110 dollar gun.

Where did the millenial touch you?
>>
>>34685998
If you were born before 1980 or so, and go to 4chan, you're an even bigger loser than the rest of us Millenials. Unless you were born in the 70s or before, you're probably one as well.

Using Federal 40 grain.

>>34685750
I just took it apart today, ran water over it then dried and cleaned it thoroughly. I'll re oil before I go back to the range. Or grease, as another Anon said.
>>
>>34685726
Sometimes it doesn't eject, sometimes it doesn't extract. Frequently I end up with a spent casing getting pinched by the bolt.

It kind of feels like it starts to short stroke, but honestly I can't tell with perfect certainty.

Lastly I'm having trouble understanding that image.
