How bad would we be fucked if a Russian/Chink sub blowed up multiple Deepwater Horizons by surprise?

It would genocide the entire Gulf ecosystem and destroy our fishing transportation and oil economy in several states. It would take months minimum just to cap the wells, years to fully recover.

A single sub could cripple a giant sector of our economy and infastructure with one surprise attack.

It would be worse than if a dozen goatfuckers drove around the western forests starting fires every 20 miles.

It would totally overload all of our systems.

Seriously one sub with a dozen torps could fuck us up real bad

How could we defend against this kind of attack?

Good luck hitting all those platform with a limited amount of subs and torpedoes.

>It would be worse than if a dozen goatfuckers drove around the western forests starting fires every 20 miles.
Are you listening to yourself right now?
>>
>>34679635
You don't have any idea how vulnerable our infastructure is.
>>
>>34679635
>Are you listening to yourself right now?
In 2007, federal offshore tracts produced 27% of the oil and 14% of the natural gas in the United States.
>>
>>34679666
That's probably before the fraking boom.

Still the offshore energy industry is huge. And that's not even counting the rest of the Gulf economy.
>>
>>34679593
The international repercussions from causing such and environmental catastrophe would make it so costly politically as to be inconceivable by any nation state.
>>
>>34679649
>You don't have any idea how vulnerable our infastructure is.
You don't have any idea how difficult getting a sub into the Gulf of Mexico is. Let alone one filled to the brim with torpedoes that on a suicide mission, which reduces the amount that cold be used in the almost sure war that would break out with the US.
>>
>>34679593
been reading Tom Clancy again?
>>
>>34680080
would there even be any way to find out who did it though?
US would probably just blame it on who ever they didnt like that day as an excuse to invade that country, tell the populace they solved the problem, and claim whatever advantages they could from the invasion.
>>
>>34680426
>would there even be any way to find out who did it though?
Yes, you can't hide a torpedo strike. Let alone in of the most heavily transited places on the ocean.
>>
>>34679593
>>34679635
>>34680438
use divers and timed charges not torpedos
>>
>>34680438
what i mean is assuming the sub actually gets away. would there be any evidence left in the wreckage that could to traced back to specific subs?
>>
>>34680481
They could likely find what remains of the torpedo in the shallow waters, if (and that's a really big fucking if) the coast guard or regular navy doesn't send ships over to find whoever's rolling around sinking oil platforms and push their shit in.
>>
>>34680463
>use divers and timed charges not torpedos
You still need to get a sub there to deliver those charges. Not to mention they're staffed by literally dozens of people with loads of high powered cameras around. The second it gets figured out it was an attack and not an accident, the Navy goes HAM in finding shit.

>>34680481
Almost certainly. The Navy has over 100 years with submarine operations, they certainly could figure it out.
>>
>>34680426
You really underestimate intelligence strategies employed by a majority of first-world countries
>>
>>34679593
woudnt even have to....sneak a sub up the hudson canyon...and launch...any target in new england as well as virginia and maryland would have about ten minutes warning....adios.
>>
>>34679593

Oil is too precious to lose. Like ever. Literally, all the effort could be spent on bribing the oil corps if they haven't already.

Also that oil spill in that region from some years ago, Russia said "You need nuke to glass the ocean floor, we'll do it." No joke, cause it's been done before.
>>
>>34680954
>sneak a sub up the hudson canyon
Good luck
>>
>>34680524
>You still need to get a sub there to deliver those charges

No you don't. You could deliver divers and charges on a cigarette or fishing boat.
>>
>>34679593
>How bad would we be fucked if a Russian/Chink sub blowed up multiple Deepwater Horizons by surprise?

You see what happened to the middle east after we slung dick around over there for about a decade?

Do you think anyone wants that happening to their country?
>>

Mexican cartels have diesel subs. And the money and guns to kidnap engineers.

Not saying they have any reason to blow up our oil rigs. But it doesn't take nation state level resources to create a huge mess like that.

When Trump starts draining the CIA we might see some crazy false flag start popping off.

>No you don't. You could deliver divers and charges on a cigarette or fishing boat.
Have fun getting stopped and machine gunned by the Coast Guard.

>No you don't. You could deliver divers and charges on a cigarette or fishing boat.
Listen to what you're saying.

>Mexican cartels have diesel subs. And the money and guns to kidnap engineers.
That can only go about 50 feet underwater with a snorkel in littoral waters (assuming it doesn't sink, which they do).
>But it doesn't take nation state level resources to create a huge mess like that.
An organized attack on multiple oil rigs can't just be thrown together.

>When Trump starts draining the CIA we might see some crazy false flag start popping off.
? Why would he do that?
>>
>>34680954
If some retard like you knows about this weakness maybe, just maybe, the navy does to and has countermeasures to such an attack. There are sensors all over the ocean in like the fucking 80s, imagine what we have now..
>>
>>34680992
>"You need nuke to glass the ocean floor, we'll do it.
sounds like an authentic quote, not some shit russian accent in your retarded mind passing as one.
