What would be the point for the aviation wing on a navy carrier being run by a separate branch? It would only cause problems with logistics, communication, jurisdiction, etc. Just because it can fly doesn't mean it should belong to the USAF. Same for anything floating on water belonging to the USN.

I did my AIT in Pensacola right by NAS. The Blue Angels were in the final month of their tour for 2015. They would practice every day in the mid-afternoon and fly overhead non-stop. It was fucking awesome. They did extremely low passes once; maybe 20 meters above us once. It's a really spectacular sight up close.
