Tell me about the taurus 980, what is the point in having a long barrel?

More accurate. You don't lose velocity from gas escaping too early like with a short barrel.

Long barrel gives more time for the gasses to accelerate the bullet, meaning faster bullet. Also it gives more time for powder/gasses to burn out so you get less flash and noise.
Also a longer sight radius, which makes aiming easier.
Like a .357 Magnum revolver with a 4" barrel would be a pretty good general purpose gun, but a .357 Magnum revolver with an 8" barrel can be suitable for hunting in a way the shorter gun isn't.

Is a big barrel for you.

it is inversely correlated with penis length

Also for shooting down the Batwing.

UK-legal, they love that shit over there because of their retarded laws

I kinda want a scope mount for my Python, but I worry that it´ll damage the finish

Gun in OP's pic wouldn't be legal there, he'd have to add an extension to the grip to make the gun longer.

The 8" Hunter models (a special version) would come with a Leupold scope and rings already mounted to the gun in a presentation case.
They're of course a bit pricier and rarer.

.357 has huge gains in velocity from longer barrels.
