What's /k/'s opinion of the Strum & Ruger Co. LC9?
I own the lCP (1st Gen) and like it a lot but I need something a bit more substantial for EDC.
For reference I am a 5'8" manlet who wears mostly fitted clothes so it seems to fit the bill for a low profile carry 9 mil. Anybody have anything to say about them to sway me to or from it? I love Ruger so I'd kinda like to have another if they are any good.

The LC9 was my first gun. As a fellow manlet with tiny baby hands it's actually rather comfortable to hold. Be forewarned that the trigger is absolute garbage, even worse than the LCP. From what I've heard the LC9s is a huge step up in the trigger department. Other than that, the absurd amount of safeties present are also a bit of a turn-off. Seriously, there's like five of them. The one with the most disastrous potential is the magazine disconnect. Depending on your grip it's pretty easy to accidentally press the mag eject and pop the mag slightly out out of position (they aren't completely drop free unless extremely well oiled). When that happens you chamber the next round fine but can't drop the hammer, and it may not be immediately obvious in a life or death situation that the reason it isn't firing is because the mag is 2mm out of battery. This can be somewhat fixed by removing the magazine disconnect, but that turns it from DA/SA to SAO. At least with the hammer versions, not sure in what ways its different with the striker.

Complaints all said, I've never had a FTF or FTE and I've dumped well over 1500 rounds through it. It also disappears anywhere. Put that thing in a pocket and it might as well have just turned invisible.

Just curious, but do you leave the stickers on your magazines? I'm familiar with the LCP and other Rugers, not the LC9, but I didn't know that Ruger made guns with non drop free magazines. You need to take the stickers off new magazines, though. I've seen so many people who don't do this.

Take a look at the LCP II. The grip is a little wider and longer, and the trigger better to the point that I consider it to be a viable IWB carry gun. The LC9 is quite a bit larger of a gun. IMO, it's an awkward size.

I've got three factory mags and none of them came with stickers on them. I'm also OCD about peeling off protective coatings and such, so I'd have definitely noticed. The issue I run into is that the magazine release's spring clamps the magazine catch onto the body of the mag hard enough to keep the thing in place. If you hold the button it drops out just fine, but if you're pressing it for just a couple milliseconds while the gun is recoiling... Not so much.
>>
>>34651329
WTF is your problem again!?...genuinely curious. I love my lc9.....questions? ??
>>
>>34651452
I see what you're saying now. I've actually heard of this issue where the recoil is so Stout that people accidentally engage the slide catch, locking slide open inadvertently while shooting.

I never said it wasn't. He was asking for opinions, so I gave mine. If it wasn't fine I wouldn't still own it.

Ignore that ESLfag. He's clearly confused.

>>34651446
Right but I need a somewhat bigger gun. I already have an LCP and granted I do live the thing, I need a more substantial round than .380 and I love 9mm

Op here.

Good to know you like yours. I wasn't ragging on them at all, just wanted opinions to sway me for or against buying one. Learn to read man fuck.

I have an LC9S.
Everyone seems to complain about the trigger, but I don't have any issues. Maybe I'm not experienced enough, that's certainly a possibility. I didn't really like the feel of the MP Shield or Glock when my family went shooting with a buddy, but that's personal preference.
I more or less for it because it's small, slim, and my wife can rack the slide (she's like 100lbs soaking wet) and I wanted it for conceal carry.
It's pretty damn loud, maybe because of the shorter barrel. I haven't had issues with accuracy and I'm an amateur shooter, so I'm not always at the range.

If you want a spare mag (LC9) then you can buy one for like $30 from Ruger or get an aftermarket one. No issues with failure to fire or anything like that.
I'd recommend getting one, but I can't tell you all the differences between this and other brands. I just like it, and it does what I need it to.

Sorry I keep replying to my own post.

Mine is the LC9S Pro model too. I saw where another anon mentioned the S model fixed the trigger, so maybe that's why I haven't noticed it being as awful like everyone else mentions.
Highly recommend.

Lcp 1 and lc9s were my first two guns before moving on to Glock 19. Highly recommend lc9striker version. Especially the pro no safeties version. Great trigger on the striker version.

5' 8" is average height for a US male.
5' 4" is average height for a male worldwide.
Despite what women seem to think.
>This is very important to me because I'm 5' 9" which makes me above average height

Also all Ruger guns are good 2 go.
