Just got a Ruger Precision Rifle.

6.5 Creedmoore

24 inch barrel.

Commiefornia, so I gotta wait for the cool off period (do other states do that too?)

How'd I do /k/, it's my first jump up into long range shooting. I already mastered my .22 bolt action and have a pretty good understanding on windage and elevation.

Better options out there. You could still take it back and get that sweet, sweet Finn action.

RPR is fine. Tikka is nice but RPR has amazing barrels that you can throw on yourself (with a go-gauge) for dirt cheap.

Check your handguard and barrel if they're cock eyed (a few QC issues on some of them) but they're great rifles. When they started they were amazingly priced and no real competition but there's other good options as well. Get some decent glass, shoot it, develop a load for it, and enjoy the snot out of it!

Florida has a cool off period of a few days if you purchase from a gun store or ffl and our laws are pretty lax.
>>
>>34648577
If you want a solid platform to build on, you can throw a Howa 1500 into a chassis for less. I see no reason to get an RPR unless you're going to upgrade the barrel at the very least. And at that point, you're better off just buying an action (1500) and throwing a quality barrel on it and throwing it into a chassis.

Only for pistols. And if you have a concealed carry permit you don't have to wait

Shhh... Stop recommending Howa 1500's. I don't want normies catching on and bringing the price up.
>>

Tikka tac is not RPR grade.
. protip I have both.

Is this bait? I really can't tell.

Wonderful job if so. 8/10

>(do other states do that too?)

I have walked into a store and walked out with a gun seven minutes and thirty five seconds later. Yes, I timed it. This was in Tennessee, and it was the fastest I've ever seen an e-file 4473 go through. Even the guy behind the counter seemed kind of surprised. Usually takes like 10-15.

Seems like an alright rifle to me.

Where'd you get it. Can't find any at most shops.

Howa's are garbage bro, the average normie is better off buying a Remington 700. It's called 700 because there is 700 months of prefection behind it

But do they also have a buffer inside the bolt? Now don't get me wrong but the reason why RPR are selling like hot shit is not because of the hard ergonomic qualities of fine stock adjustment or the rough/sharp edged of a "lack of" fine finish but because it is a bolt rifle with further recoil reducing technology than the competition. Complete amateurs and new people are making coin groups @500meters not for no reason without a bench rest. If the rifle were not like 85% metal then it would be a lot cheaper.

Shot my newish RPR at a 1000y range for the first time last weekend.

Only taken it out to ~500y before and I was reliably hitting the 10" plate at 1000y once I got my windage figured out.

RPR is fucking based.

Are the people shitting on the RPR poor fags who can't afford it? Or guys who've put in thousands into their gun just to have an RPR do the same for less?

Everyone is saying that it sucks but no one is really saying how.

Every single reviewer on kiketube is incredibly pleased with theirs. I'd also go for the T3x tikka tac a1 but it's around 700 dollars more.

For new shooters trying to get into long range shooting, the RPR is great seeing as most people won't outshoot it and it leaves you more of a budget for a good glass.

From what I understand hating on the RPR is a meme , most of the time, there are some people out there who have shot enough to say " this is okay, but this is better" For the cost to feature ratio its a good learner.

I myself am happy with the rifle for the most part , yet I still find myself looking at other rifles.
>>
>>34657965

That's normal for being a gun enthusiast. I could have a $15,000 .408 Cheytac and I'd still be looking at other rifles.

As you said though, the RPR is a great rifle, worth it's money.
