Sup /k/ what's your opinion on 5.11 tactical? I plan on buying boots from 5.11. Any experience? I've heard good things about their pants but not their boots.
Dunno about their boots. A friend has a pair of their shoes and loves them. I'm a fan of the taclite pros and Apex pants

how waterproof are these kinds of boots? Be they 5.11 or Nike SFBs?
This is the kind of mud i have where i hike

all of their stuff is top tier, I think you cant go wrong with them

They make lower end stuff so might be okay for some accessories but you don't want to cheap out on boots.
The 6" side zips are pretty great. I walk 3-5 miles a day on concrete floors. The soles wear faster than work boots.
I"ve had a pair of 5.11 ATACs for about 5 years. They were factory seconds I got from Sportsman's Guide for $50. They've held up pretty well.
I just ordered these from a popular, south-American-jungle themed online conglomerate. Bready good reviews there and elsewhere. I'll guess I'll let you know how they perform after breaking in.
The boots are shit and have more than a few design flaws.

Enjoy the stitches holding the zipper to the boot popping.
Side zips for active wear is a horrendously stupid decision; the flexion your ankle puts on it when walking destroys its integrity.
Also there's no pull tab and the foot opening is horrendously designed; even at open zip you'll have a hard time getting your foot inside.
I don't care for their boots. Uncomfortable and the leather tore at the creases in about a year.
Everything else they make is pretty good.

Lol side zip.
5.11 boots got tore up in a fire academy from just being taken off hastily and thrown to the side when jumping into bunker gear. They were some low composite shits.

those tac-lite 6" boots are easily the best boots I've ever worn
