Stop me from buying one, please god /k/ I need help.

What would you ever use it for
>>34639090
taking boner inducing photos to post on /k/
>>34639100
Maybe move out of your mom's basement first
>>34639118
jokes on you I've lived 2,300 miles away from my folks for 12 years and I'm moving back in 3 weeks
> Almost 1200 fucking dollarydoos
I'd rather put that towards a decent rifle or some kind of gucci optic that'll actually hold it's value over some meme laser desu.
Speaking of steiner, is their stuff actually good?
Their products never have any reviews on retail sites or on youtube.
>>34640070
The limited feedback I've heard is yes, it's all good to go if a bit pricey.
>>34639081
I have one and the windage adjustment can't go far enough for it to zero on my G17. The batteries drain really fast even when off. Can't say I recommend it.
>>34639100
Why the hell would you buy an IR laser if you don't even have NODs? Do you even know what a laser is used for? It's so you can shoot with NODs because most optics will be out of focus with them on. You rarely use it for the visible laser my man.
>>34640339
with a 1.2k MSRP I would be bitch Stiener out if I were you, sounds like they owe you big time
>>34640373
They already "fixed" it once when the adjustments were completely out of whack. I got it back recently and am figuring out what to do next.
>>34640371
I know I know...but it would be bretty decent incentive to buy NODs and keep them on the nightstand.....JUST SAYIN
>>34640395
I would be a plague on their existence, that's fucking bullshit.
Hand rite and mail in a letter addressed to the executives.
>>34640415
You know what the funniest part is? I had to mail it twice. The first time they had me mail it, they gave me the wrong address. It was a completely different state.
>>34640470
foreal, shake the tree, go above whoever you last talked to from CS -, you spent real money, they have no excuse to not take care of you
>>34640415
just don't spell write like I did in your letter
>>34640403
Considering a good set of NODs alone will cost you several times more than a DBAL, not to mention the helmet and mounting hardware, I would say just go for the NODs first. A DBAL will seem like nothing in comparison.
>>34639081
I would recommend a RMR paired with a x300v
Easier to find a holster, its also a all-around superior set up for use under night vision.
Also the button arrangement on the DBAL-PL sucks ass IMO.
>>34639275
There is no "value" in a thousand bucks, poorfriend. Chump change like that is totally disposable.
>>34639081
1. The RMR is a better sight for use with nods than a laser
2. You CAN use pistol night sights with night vision. While its true its out of focus you can superimpose the 2 glowing dots making it serviceable for pistol distances. XS dots work better for this set up and it is in fact un ideal
3. Buy your fucking nods first, gen 2 and above, gen 1 stuff (including CORE) is useless.
4. Youll need a helmet as well, either bump or ballistic as well as a mount.
>>34640586
a very sobering and informative post, that did it, like a ice water dunking I've ascended from the stupor
a tip of the hat and a thank you
While we are on the subject of weapon lights/lasers. Can anyone recommend a cheap poorfag light to put on a pistol?
>>34640640
This is literally the best light, the lumens, candella, flood and spill are second to none, the bezel is restricted enough as well
Everything else will be half the lumens with a fucked hotspot
>>34640640
tlr-1
>>34640672
Awsome! i'll look into it. Any others though?
>>34640698
inforce apl?
>>34640705
Hmm alright thanks. I'll wager the two
any recommendations for NODs that aren't $42,000?
>>34640698
>>34640705
>>34640744
the brand new gen 3 APL is less than half the lumens of the TLR-1 HL
I think it's probably a good light going off of the hotspot from my gen 2 APL, but it simply is way weaker.
The profile is slimmer so it carriers better, but I also think the paddle activation is a liability, I've activated it unintentionally multiple times, ymmv
>>34640749
Think i'll go for the tlr-1. I should have noted it's for a full size
>>34640749
How many lumens do you really need for a defensive pistol though? Odds are I'm using it inside my home or in a close encounter on the street, where the hotspot of the APL is plenty.
I also like the paddle design because it's silent, unlike the audible click on the TLR-1 and X300 for constant on. I like all three lights, but for carry I think the APL is better.
>>34640787
please be very aware there are two versions of the TLR-1
One is "TLR-1"
One is "TLR-1 HL"
completely different animals, if you don't get the "HL" model you are missing out on literally every selling point of the model.
>>34640804
I think your reasoning is sound and I wouldn't talk you out of the APL - I really do think it's a winner. My preference just lies in face-fucking blinding lumens is all
>pic related my gen 2 build
>>34639081
>DBAL on a pistol
For what purpose
>>34640817
Cool thanks
>>34640842
operator larping and sexy instagram likes, of course
>>34640835
Fair enough. I have enough white walls and mirrors in the house where too many lumens become a liability due to splashback. A variable power light would be nice.
>>34640855
Before you pull the trigger on your amazon order, maybe wait for a X300U warrior to stop by - maybe there are counterpoints that they could make that might matter to you
But for me, blinding fucking lumens and hotspot are the poignant bits best not ignored
>>34640880
Right.
>>34640748
PVS7s can be had for a bit over 2 grand, and there's basically no point in buying anything less capable.
But if you've got an extra $1000-$1500, it's probably worth it to go PVS-14. If you've only got one tube, you're better off having only one eye looking through it and leaving the other eye open to try and catch muzzle flash, etc in your peripheral vision.
>>34639130
>>34639275
I'm guessing these two post are related
>>34643337
130 is mine the OP, other guy looks like he was just expressing himself
>>34643346
You said you were thinking about buying a $1000+ flashlight and that you're moving back with your folks.
I was merely commenting that those choices just might be related somehow.
>>34643363
well I'm moving back with my folks until I settle in on a location for work, it would be impractical to just randomly sign a lease or to stay at a motel
but I will also agree that I don't manage my money well
