Also should I build a 10inch block 1-esque pistol with shockwave brace or just do 16inch and do m4/B5 stock?

No.

Mixing BCM and Magpul grips looks weird.

Also, it's supposed to be light, right? Keep all the junk off it. Throw some rail covers on it and just grip the rail ToB stye. MAYBE use a hand stop.

It could, but I wouldn't be shooting long strings with a pencil barrel. It that becomes an issue in the future, I'll look into some covers.

>>34637275
2.95 ounce buffer, lightest standard buffer I could find. The Taccom plastic buffer is 2.5 oz, costs five times as much and I don't trust plastic in there.

There may be carbon fiber extensions but that's a safety and lubricity concession I don't want to make. I have a full strength receiver extension and receivers, the barrel and handguard are as thin and as weak as I will allow. I specifically didn't get the skeletonized 2A handguard because it's too much material removed.

Three things I didn't want to lose:
Function
Safety (strength)
Aesthetic appeal

>>34637283
Forward assist I consider useless, but the dust cover could be used in snow, rain or wind.

>>34637400
There really aren't any, midlength is superior in almost every way. Carbine gas length could possibly provide more apt dwell time for 14.5" barrels, but even that is being contested nowadays.

>>34636640
Anyone trying to address rifle balance? Trying to shift center of gravity as close to the grip as possible when fully loaded/geared up.

The idea being to reduce fatigue on the shoulders over extended shooting and to increase/maintain accuracy over extended shooting.

With the weight more rearward you can support it better with your body by just resting the stock against. This way your forward arm isn't supporting any weight (just a guide) and your muzzle won't droop downward and put uncomfortable forces on your hand from all the gear on the rails.

So far I have been playing around with adding weight to the stock but you get a huge increase in overall weight with only a small shift in center of gravity.

Curious if anyone else has thought about it.
>>
>>34638211
What would you like better between that and bcm stubby.
>>
>>34638436
Its a lever, as you discovered the stock is a short arm of the lever. You are better off moving anything you can back from the muzzle towards the fulcrum

Not in arg, no. Doodads and addons are the prevailing fads.

tl;dr A pencil or other thin profile barrel and no light/laser will make a huge perceptible difference. Adding weight to the stock less so. Pic related, think about it.

>>34638453
They're basically the same thing, but this one comes in M-Lok unlike BCM. It's also half an ounce lighter and has a higher amount of glass fiber.
>>
>>34638300
They could make it smaller or larger and it wouldn't make a bit of difference since the shape is the problem. They simply wanted to jam an increased capacity .45 mag in there, you know, because it worked out so well when H&K did it so LET'S DO IT BIGGER.

Shame too, because I like everything else about the FNX-45 tacticals I've bought and sold since the FNP.

I should be clear, they're not the same thing and there are shape differences, but for all intensive purposes they're the same dimensions and work the same way.

If you want to be a cheapo, the ALG QMS is a less-shit version of the standard GI trigger. However unless you have some nasty creep, grit, burrs or any other anomalies, you won't notice much if any difference over your current trigger. Larue MBT for $99 is going to absolutely shit on anything else under $200. So start savin'.

There's ONE guy on arg who got a bum MBT, I don't know if he replaced it, but I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO CONTEND THE MBT AS THE KIND OF ALL BUDGET TRIGGERS FOREVER

I have been hesitant to use a pencil barrel.

I could be completely wrong but dont pencil barrels wear out faster? The weight difference wont be worth a detriment to the rifles performance and lifespan.
>>
>>34638706
I've not heard that, not that it's not true.

If you're concerned, get a Gunner or Hanson profile instead. It'll cut a lot of weight but neither are pencil thin.

If its aluminum you should check the feed lips, they are a second piece that is spot welded (iirc) to the body. if they come loose they can be a real bitch. Also check that the follower moves free in the body of the mag. The aluminium ones can be dented to a point where you cant fully load them.

The manta wrap is legit garbo. It costs way too much for what it is, it weighs a shocking amount, and the method of attachment is lazily designed and basically awful.

The only thing it does have going for it is that it feels great to me. Plus it's an excellent little rubber pad that I can use to brace against things and it won't slip. Great for improvising a shooting position. I also think it looks good despite many /arg/ opinions to the contrary.

Thanks. Any good suggestions for rails? Should I get an mlok or anything?

I'm not trying to break the bank or have the most tacticool rifle on here. I'm going to rattle can it camo and use it as a hunting gun. I just want something I can mound a sturdy bipod to.

I kind of like the smooth look of the PRI carbon fiber handguards and the ability to just mount a small segment of 1913 rail to it for the bipod. Is there anything out there like them that doesn't cost $400?

Would that be heresy?

A1 stock and an M5 RAS and this would actually be kinda cool
>>

I'm thinking I want to keep non railed handguards for now, I have an A1 grip and surplus A2 handguards showing up tomorrow.
