Look at pic related
assuming it's true

9mm's wound is almost as big as 556
and .30 carbine's wound is even bigger than 556

tell me again, what significant advantage do SBRs have over SMGs?
>>
Being effective past 200 yards and having more suitable AP properties.

>Being effective past 200 yards
doesn't 556 ballistics get molested hard by the lack of barrel length and lose lots of it's velocity and effective range?
check a ballistics calculator
>>

And AP pistol ammo exists.
MAC shows an lv3 plate getting pierced by a 9mm AP round
>>

that halo isn't the wound, it's the temporary cavity. the black is permanent cavity.

caliber
SBR's typically have high velocity calibers that are ideal for facing any enemy carrying a form of ballistic armor such as kevlar. SMG's typically use pistol rounds which don't have a high enough speed to puncture such armor, ALSO 5.56 breaks apart after entry as we can see, this is why it's so widely used because it has the speed to puncture but is unlikely to keep going past the target were as 9mm and other such pistol rounds could creating a risk of collateral damage and friendly fire

>tl;dr
go watch Ahoy's youtube videos on the P90 and the AK and you'll know why
>>

The 5.56 permanent cavity, shown in black, is much more severe than the 9mm and the .30

Your argument is built upon a false premise.
>>
>>34634791
That was level 3A not level 3. There's a significant difference between the two.
>>
>>34634941
Only people who have never been hunting would fail to notice.
>>
>>34634709
You are actually retarded, aren't you?

Protip, temporary cavity is not a wounding mechanism, flesh that stretches rebounds and nothing happens.
>>
>>34634709
the cavity in black is the important part, dipshit. do you really think that if somehow 9mm was more effective than 5.56 they'd be still using SBR's at all? They started out using sub guns then moved over to SBR's after tests like these. think for fucking once
>>
>9mm's wound is almost as big as 556
No it's not.

This is what ballistics gel penetration tests do to your brain, kids.
