Stupid Question
How does http://irunguns.rocks/ work?
Do they ship the gun directly to you after it clears customs and CBSA?
>>
>>34636679
They have a facility in Canada they ship it too, then it goes to your house. You have to pay for shipping and import to Canada, then shipping from their Canadian facility to you.
>>
>>34636694
Thanks, man. Their website is a tiny bit confusing.
>>
>>34636694
whats the average price to import a rifle?
>>
>>34637103
They only have one price for importung and its 225$, use Aztech armory
>>
Why is Russian made ammo getting more expensive all of the sudden?
>>
>>34639219

because imports are about to stop thanks to russia sanctions.

I wish I was well enough off that I could donate to his patreon, considering I watch the vast majority of his videos. Food and shelter take precedence, unfortunately.

I'm assuming he'll be checking out stuff at the Canadian War Museum and/or some private collection(s) in the area. Looking forward to it.

Hmmm... Do any firearm importers in Ottawa have a Type-81 sample, you think? Would be a good opportunity.
>>
>>34641386
Well TI the importers of the type 81 are in Mississauga so its not that far from Ottawa
>>
>>34641437
If they fly to YYZ, then that'd be a good pit stop before heading to Ottawa.
>>
>>34641470

That's a really convenient way of catching any lube you pour down the barrel.
>>
Fuck me. Why did nobody tell me importing guns was so much cheaper. Ordered a CZ 455 training rifle and it cost me less than a basic bitch CZ 455. Granted I still have yet to pay the taxes and Canadian shipping, but the grand total is still gonna be a fuck of a lot less than ordering in Canada.

>>34642101
You make that?
>>
>>34642720
You get them off ebay. Look up oil filter adapters.
>>
>>34642750
So is it just an actual oil filter adapter that conveniently fits the threads of your gun or is it an "oil filter adapter". My mark iv has a 1/2-28 thread on it. Super tempted to try it out.
>>
>>34642863
Its an adapter specifically to fit onto the front sight of a 10/22 carbine.
You can easily find threaded ones too.
>>
>>34639252
I'm so fucking mad, I'll be in Sudbury doing my BMQ Land for the reserves during that time. I'm guessing he'll probably do the War museum and maybe a few interesting private collections as well.
>>
>>34642876
So are there ones on ebay specifically designed to work with firearms? I see ones that match the threads of my .22, but it seems kinda sketchy to me. Its just one thread to another, right?

That's right, I'll never spill another drop of Hoppes!
This adapter came out of China via ebay. You have to do some research regarding which oil filter fits.
>>
>>34644436
Well so far it's only cost me $470. I'm pretty sure it's still going to come out to less than what it would cost to buy it here. Not that The model I ordered is even available here.
>>
>>34644134
Yup, you want a 1/2x28 to whatever common oil filter thread you can get.
>>
Some of the Amazon comments for the oil filter are amusing.
These are the two items I bought:
-FRAM PH373 Passenger Car Oil Filter
-Aluminum Solvent Trap Oil Filter Adapter 13/16-16 Fits Ruger 10/22 Silver
>>

>>
>>34642101
>>34644513
Do those quiet .22's cycle properly through that? I was having to manually eject them with my Marlin 795, it is pretty new though
>>
>>34644513
is this even illegal? I mean, can a lawfag find the specific law about suppressors: is it worded regarding prohibition of "silencers and suppressors"? is it more broad like "devices designed to suppress or silence the sound of gun fire in handguns or rifles"? and even then, would this count as a device DESIGNED to suppress sound? I mean it's clearly a thread adapter with a device designed to trap/filter oil sooo.. or do they use some more clever terminology that catches this sort of thing? I mean, what if this ends up being legal because of specific wording?
>>
>>34645865
I've used low sound .22s in a semi auto before and they wouldn't cycle for shit. That being said, there are different mechanics involved that just lower power when using a suppressor. Sorry oil filter.
>>34647189
The oil filter does count when it's on a gun.
>>
>>34647189
stop being autistic, there's nothing horse cop friendly about it.
>>
>>34647189
The law in Canada clearly (clearer than most of the Firearms Act) states that anything that lowers the report of a firearm is a prohibited device. So the filter is fine as a filter, but the second you put it on a gun it's illegal.
>>
>>34647189
lol it's super illegal
>>
>>34647197
>>34647268
I see, figured as much, since there would be people using it left and right if it was possible, but thought I'd check. who knows with our laws
>>34647205
>pistol mag in rifle is fine cause it's designed for pistol
>car oil filter on rifle is fine cause it's designed for car
what's so autistic about checking if nonsensical laws are nonsensical consistently?
>>
>>34647360
Sticking a potato on the muzzle of your gun would be be illegal, shooting through a pillow would be illegal.
>>
>>34645865
i tried the quiets in my 10/22, they dont cycle the bolt, you could probably put in a weaker spring though and it would work

the quiet 22s are so quiet already that the suppressor wouldnt even be necessary imo

seriously, that 5.56 barrel is definitely much fatter than an SKS barrel and probably fatter than an M14 heavy barrel. I get that they wanted to compensate for the fact that it's 4140 steel and not muh 4150 steel, and that's what's causing the rifles to be unexpectedly accurate, but with the profile being the same even under handguards, it makes for a front heavy AR, even though overall it's still not a heavy rifle

have you shot or at least handled one? they're much heavier than they look

we don't really have a lot of options for a bullpup NR semiauto in 5.56 in Canada: Tavor being the pricey option, T97 being the cheap roll of the dice you'll-never-fully-trust-it tier, and now K&M M17S coming in as the new hopeful but untested alternative.
>inB4 uber-expensive unicorn-tier shit
so really, as of now, Tavor or X95 are your only options if you want peace of mind reliability

considering we get Israeli IWI factory-made ones in Canada, instead of what Americans get: parts kits from IWI slapped together by their fellow Burgers in US, I'd hope the Canadian version is actually made to slightly better standard than US and some of the issues, like the accuracy reports from US, won't apply to Canadian X95.
need more reviews for my liking before I consider and of course that fucken price tag makes the shekels in my pockets cry

also
>some American-built X95were sold here by a few dealers too, so check the little plate on the left side towards rear when buying for not having US address
with jew price tag, they better be jew-made

Not sure if you're being glib or retarded on purpose, but the filter becomes a prohibited device when it gets put on the gun. The cops will charge you with everything under the sun such as intent to produce a prohibited device if you have an adapter, a gun and an oil filter in your trunk/backpack.
>>
>>34655732
I think it has more to do with cost cutting. By using barrels that aren't muhM4gery cut they save costs. You're hilariously right about that surprising accuracy tho.

Mossberg-MVP-15.jpg

Alright fellow canucks, looking into getting my first rifle soon. Main reason is shooting paper. Originally I was going to pick up an Norchinko M14 and slap a battle rail/scope on it, but can't get the rail I want for less than an arm and a leg (400 bucks). Thinking it over though, I figured id probably be happier with something cheaper to feed, So right now I'm thinking a Mossberg MVP in 5.56/.223 instead. Cheaper to feed, more accurate, and it's not a hassle to mount a scope. What I'm wondering is if anyone can recommend a different starting rifle to me, or is my choice sound?
Mostly looking for:
>Cheap to feed/practice on
>non restricted so I can shoot on crown land

Also, can you recommend me some fairly cheap entry level optics? I know everyone says buy good glass, but this isn't a precision rifle and I'm just getting into shooting. Thanks guys

Honestly, M1A/M14/M305 are such a PITA to accurize and keep accurate (they shake themselves loose), that you're probably better off just avoiding them if your intent is to make small groups on pieces of paper.

Second the savage recommendation.

Restricted:
AR-10B's
Non-Restricted:
RobArm XCR-L
Kel-Tec RFB
K&M M17
NEA-102
ATRS Modern Hunter
Springfield M1A (if you really don't want an M305)
FNAR
FAMAE SG 542
Valmet M78 (A bit pricey, but nice)
Medved (Pictured). Rare but a Canada-legal SVD pattern rifle, so that's neat...

So with the criminal code there is a clause that specifies no "military style drilling" etc. but it says by order of the Governor in Council.
Does the order being specified matter in this clause?
Are there any of these orders active right now?
If not, can we go and drill innawoods or where-ever?
>>
>>34670997
>Does the order being specified matter in this clause?
Yes it means the government can without legal clause shutdown assemblies (groups of people) who they see are practicing military training.
>Are there any of these orders active right now?
No, not to my knowledge. There maybe long standing ones that i'm unaware of.
>If not, can we go and drill innawoods or where-ever?
Yes

Basically it just means if you appear to be arming/training a militia, terrorist org, gang etc; the government can force you to disband or arrest you without cause.
Its aimed more at the extremes and not people doing run and gun in the bush.

Tons of Mounties have unregistered handguns, I know this as a fact from experience. Who's going to bust them? A couple years ago the Victoria, BC police chief left a handgun under his seat. He said he was sorry and that was it. :-/

you can't buy genuine CADPAT because it's literally illegal to sell, it's gov't property and is part of the uniform of our military, it isn't meant for sale to anyone.
think about it, what if enemy agents wanted to pull some shit and could dress up in a way that would make them indistinguishable from our soldiers, even to our soldiers or to our allies?
it's like asking "where can I buy a genuine police uniform and badge" you can't, it would be illegal for a cop or the supplier who supplies govt to sell you a set on the side for obvious reason

once it's swapped out for something else, they'll show up in surplus. but while it's still in active duty, all you can get are good or bad imitations

>>
>>34673966

To use a videogame analogy, they are the publisher that devs (the actual manufacturers) sell through.
>>
>>34673966
Chinese guns are functional but rough. If you take apart a rifle more than a basic field strip you will find sharp edges, rough machining, and be faced with difficulty while reassembling because the parts often didn't fit to begin with and are really just forced into place. Personally I have had one break to the point of non-functionality and all the bluing wore off of any area that saw more than occasional handling on every single one. The stocks are made of some sort of softwood, (birch I think) and are dented and scuffed easily. I personally have never had a semi-auto Chinese gun, but I hear most have issues with ftf/jamming. My only mag fed one is a JW-25, it's functioned flawlessly, and was well worth the 200 bucks I spent on it. My outlaw and backpacker were gambles and I lost on the backpacker but the outlaw has had very few issues except for the break after you've shot it a few times. Stiff but it works fine. Also what >>34674010
said. Norinco is the company that takes Chinese manufactured guns and exports them to stupid round eyes so they can blow up in our faces for massive profit.
>>
>>34674064
The problem with Chinese manufacturing is that they are very capable of doing high quality stuff, but if you're trying to get the high quality stuff, after the actual cost of that quality of manufacturing, the bribes, the shipping, etc... You might as well just have it produced domestically.

A company I worked for contracted a lot of stuff out to China and it was a fucking nightmare.

Quality and reliability have been improving lately. Check out Marlinforums- they were harsh on Marlin when it shit the bed, but they are also noting that Marlin has been getting better.

what wait times are being reported for pal/rpal right now? I sent my stuff in 2 weeks ago, I'm realistically expecting to get my funs license around xmas
>>
>>34675495
Same as always, takes about 2 months total from the day you send it out to the day it gets back to you.
>>
>>34675495
It varies widely but I'd say be prepared for about 3 months just to be on the safe side, then be pleasantly surprised if it comes earlier.

With renewals, you always want at least a year, so send in your shit about six months before it expires, that way you still have the six month grace period
>>
>>34673687
Its perfectly suited for use in mountainous terrain. And by your logic no camo is good. Cadpat is absolute shit, just cause we use it doesnt mean its good
>>
>>34673006
Cadpat is literally designed to blend in the canadian woodlands, I know you love slav cock but it's far more effective than mountain flora.

Digital flora works just as good too. Mountian flora is more for above the treeline, or where the forest starts thinning out, itll work in a forested environment but not nearly as good as cadpat or digital flora, especially the reversible 6sh112

Oh my dear sweet fuck, how have I never thought of that before? How many damn times did I disassemble/reassemble my SVT-40s? I mean honestly I can do it with my thumb just fine, but that seems so unbelievably convenient! I love designs that can utilize a cartridge to help, potentially even more than designs that are built to not need any tools whatsoever like the M1911A1 Mil Spec in which you can just use parts of the pistol to continue to disassemble it!

true, it's not as useless for Canada, but at that point, you're not far off from just going Woodland

honestly, I think A-TACS FG is underappreciated where it comes to matching the amount of dirt and dried vegetation usually present in the boreal or in the prairies; especially, since if your aim is to be less visible, you'll probably spend some time going prone, so matching the ground well is important

Bought this Turk M38 K.Kale for $500.
My SKS was lonely and needed a friend. Apparently the owner bought it from a museum 10 years ag. Rifling is superb, looks like it's never been fired.

How'd I do?

cool/10. but I think those rifles average between $350-$450

You got ass raped hard. Those go regularly for sub $300 at Canadian gun shows. They never have matching numbers and hardly anyone collects then.

They do however make great shooters and will be a lot of fun for you. Just don't expect your full investment back if you resell.

I'm pretty happy. Especially because you can't seem to get the training model in Canada. Only time I've seen a CZ 455 as low as what I bought this one for on IRG is not long ago when prophet river had their no shipping and no tax sale, there was a 455 american synthetic for $520 or so.

Maybe. Isn't there something bad going on with x39 though?

I've had multiple bolt action rifles but didn't like any of them. I've been thinking about getting a lever action but the tube loading/loading gate bullshit is pissing me off since I'm more interested in pistol calibers for that kind of gun.

>>34687792
Really? I thought it was more or less the same amount of time, especially since hunting season is right around the corner.

I guess the root of my problems is that I'm ridiculously impatient.
It's just that I'm long overdue for buying a gun and I haven't got the slightest idea what to get.
>>
>>34687824
>Maybe. Isn't there something bad going on with x39 though?
No, theres are rumor that russian steel case x39 might be hard to come by but hardly anyone shoots it.
Its more of a problem for steel cased 5.56 shooters.
Most people buy russian/yugo/chinese corrosive surplus or chinese non corrosive.
>>
>>34687824
Whats going on with x39 is importers a jews and no longer want to import as much x39 cause it costs them more now amd theyd have to increase prices for us which would just result in less people buying it, i dont understand why they cant just get x39 from like Bulgaria, Belarus, czech republic, etc. Like x39 isnt druing up at all, its just we only imported it from ukraine, russia or china, and with sanctions on ukraine and Russia that only leaves china really, cause importers dont want to go through the effort of finding it in other countries. Theres warehouses all over eastern Europe with hundreds of millions of rounds of x39

Its probably they are having trouble contacting your references.
Give them a call and see what stage its at, if its processing ask for your application No. and have your references call with the No.

I just want a good, modern non-bullpup semi-auto rifle in 223 or 7.62x39, on par with the AR, that I can legally plink in the woods. Why are there no affordable options?

>mini 14, vz 58

I said *on par* with the AR not inferior to it

to add, the AR is a great platform at a reasonable cost. I just want an equally great platform at similar cost for non-restricted.

>>
>>34688115
there was a restricted 15.5 barrel one that sold for $750 the other day on the EE, if you don't mind a used one you can find a good deal for $750-$1000

Because AR pattern rifles are produced in such great mass that it keeps the cost low.
