My fellow /k/illers.
I'm a Police Officer in Brazil.
And due to soul crushing monopoly and restrictions, the pistol pictured aside is one of the few that I'm allowed to buy.
I looking into importing holsters and I need to know it's colt or springfield equivalents and also what are the best customizations.
I know it's a 5' barrel.
Thanks for your attention.
>>
>>34632679
Should fit in any Mil-spec 1911 holster. Springfield equivalent is the 1911 Mil-spec. Colt would probably be the Combat Elite or any of the other non-railed 5" variants they offer.

Although the PT1911 does have an ambidextrous safety, so you may need to ensure that whatever holster you get doesn't block the safety on either side.
>>
I see now that the pistol pictured hasn't got rails. The one I want does have rails!
>>
>>34632721
>>34632686
With this in mind, try the Colt Rail gun and the Springfield 1911 Loaded Model as equivalents.
>>
>>34632721
But is it the colt government model or the other one?
I think the fact that it has rails matter, doesn't it?
>>
>>34632732
My apologies, posted before you mentioned that you wanted the railed variant.

I'm sorry, how does a "cop" not think to ask other "cops", prior to posting on a mongolian finger board?
>>
>>34632750
Cops in Brazil know much less than me.
Also, what are the best grips for the 1911?
>>
>>34632679
Godspeed to you, OP.

You're doing a good service to Brazil.

Stay safe.

The government model and Milspec have the same barrel length, that shouldn't be an issue. They should fit in the same holster.

One concern I have from >>34632749 is that the rail seems to stick out pretty far. I would test fit with one before you order a whole bunch.

The stock grips on the pt1911 should work fine. If you can opt for Taurus' wooden grips, I'd pick those over the black plastic.

A lot of people like the Hogue wrap-around grips as well, which would be a good choice so long as you don't have tiny hands.

My everydaycarry carry pistol.
I know it has little stopping power, but it's the most trusthworthy I could afford.

I wouldn't larp misery.

I normally use a iwb crossbreed holster.

It's much better than the Imbel tc md6 and taurs 24/7 that the police have to offer.
>>
>>34632806
Stop projecting.
I've already posted pistol and badge.
>>
>>34632788
>that's not so ba-
> 380 full frame glock
What the fuck is wrong with your country.
>>
>>34632828
It's a sub compact. It has the same size as the glock 19.
Again, government restrictions.
>>
>>34632828
You see them pop up every now and then in Europe, too.

Not available here, like other yuro .380s for some reason.
>>
>>34632828.
I can also point that a .40 glock costs as much as a good car in Brazil. Over $6k easily
>>
>>34632869
I don't understand, does the govenrment just tax the shit out of anything that isn't locally made?
>>
>>34632781
He's not wrong, most cops just buy the cheapest Taurus
>>
>>34632877
Not only imports are overly taxed but also guns in general.
>>
>>34632899
Hows laws on self manufacture of guns?
>>
>>34632904
You'd get arrrested for that.
And for instance, i'll be paying $1200 for my 1911 taurus.
>>
>>34632915
Is there no way for you to maybe make an enterprise out of it?
Policemen making guns to supply only other policemen exclusively sounds like a good kinda deal.
>>
>>34632921
Guns and ammo are a government monopoly in Brazil.
All manufacturers (imbel, taurus and cbc are government owned or directed.
There's all sorts of laws and restrictions stopping one from doing that.
Even importing is an immense hassle.
There's no room for enterprise in the socialist third world.
>>
>>34632877
Illegal to own "military" cartridges. That leaves people with .380, .40, 38 super, etc.
Not sure if rifles are civi legal.
>>
>>34632921
There are as many dirty cops as criminals.
>>
>>34632957
.40 is only allowed to police and shooters with license over 2 years.
>>
>>34632944
That sounds shitty.

But you're a cop. Couldn't you somehow use that as a front and say that any company you run is technically directed by the government?
>>
>>34632973
Actually it's the army that controls guns.
And those communists fear Sao Paulo cops more than death since the1932 revolution.
And the capital and government connections necessary for such an enterprise would be incalculable.
>>
>>34632985
Gaaahh, what bullshit.
>>
It's alarming how many Brazillian cops post on /k/ seeking advice for their horrible guns. I wonder whatever happened to the one with the .32acp PT92 with the malfunctioning FPB.

For you, OP:
5" is generally called "Government" length, or sometimes "Milspec" or "GI"
I'd recommend an Imbel over a Taurus though - I don't know about what they sell in Brazil, but in the US, Imbel carries a better reputation than Taurus. Springfield Armory, which sells pretty expensive and high-end 1911s, used to contract Imbel to produce some of them.
If you're looking for a holster to wear on patrol, you should figure out what exactly you're looking for. Working in the US, I use a level 3 retention holster though that's my department policy more than anything else. In Brazil, I imagine you'd want some kind of retention.
Serpa Blackhawk holsters are cheap and probably the bare minimum you'd want to go for. If you can stretch your budget, I like Safariland ALS and SLS holsters.
>>
>>34632989
It's all fact and you can google it if you want to.

>>34632990
Unfortunatley imbel would take even longer to receive the gun.
So taurus is my best shot. As soon as I get it I'll take it it to a gunsmith.

Do you know if the serpa holster fits the 1911 with rails?
>>
>>34633000
I believe it fits guns with or without a rail.
They also make one that'll fit guns with a rail and a light attached.
Most of their holsters are oriented towards concealed carry, but they also make duty holsters. Either way, they come with retention, and you can bolt on a paddle or belt loop onto them. It's better than using a nylon holster for sure.
If you can afford it, I highly recommend the Safariland

>>
>>34633024
Thanks mate, I'll look into it.
Those safariland holsters are expensive!! :O
>>
>>34633037
They are, but I have a lot of confidence in mine.

A little bit of googling suggests that some people have mixed results with a lot of holsters and the PT1911, so make sure you try to google if other people have done it. Looks like Taurus gets a little creative with the dimensions.
Apparently IMI makes a holster specifically for the PT1911. It looks a whole lot like a Blackhawk knock-off, and it's not expensive either. Maybe ask around and see what others on your job like to use to carry their Tauruses.

Stay safe out there.
