Any other decent holographic sights out there? It turns out that they actually look fine for me if I wear polarized shooting glasses (tfw astigmatism) unlike red dots. I've just heard mixed things about reliability, battery life, and the manufacturers being a bunch of dishonest shitheads with this specific optic.
>>34622397
Bump?
Vortex is coming out with a new one pretty soon that looks really badass.
>>34622846
It's allegedly out, but I haven't seen any reviews yet.
>>34622397
/k/ will shit on EoTechs all day and night but the "wandering zero" problem is not an issue if you don't shoot in a desert or in a frozen tundra. That being said, if you have no problem hashing out over $300 for a red dot then whichever one is going to work the same, it's all aesthetic and reticle preference. I love the look of EoTechs and have never had the problem with mine.
>>34622884
One upside is they are all over armslist. I may be able to swap my Aimpoint for one.
>>34622889
Whelp I put up an add on armslist. Here's hoping someone bites.
>>34622889
Dude, don't trade a good, dependable Aimpoint for a fucking EOTech. Come on, man.
>>34622884
Try moving from home to the range. I live in Texas and after going to the range (where my EOTech saw maybe a fifty degree change in temperature,) I was experiencing thermal drift of about eight inches high and to the left. They look cool. They pop up fast in my view. But they're shit sights in construction and build quality.
>>34623149
Well my 4moa dot is a 10moa blurry lump, so it's not all that useful to me. Already tried polarized glasses and the rear sight trick. It's not going to work.
>>34623159
Thankfully I live somewhere the temperature stays pretty lukewarm all year.
>>34622889
>like fifteen Eotech threads in the past week, all featuring posters with shit eyes
I guess the Eotech truly is a great optic...if you have astigmatism. For everyone else, there's Aimpoint.
>>34623281
Yeah. Eotechs are a mess without polarized shooting glasses, but with them on they look fine. Had my holy shit moment while at the range a few days ago qualifying for my armed security license. I wish I could use my comp m2 properly because of the absurd battery life and the fact that it's basically indestructible. Oh well. This is literally the only thing wrong with my eyes to. And only applies to my right eye. Vision is 20/15 both sides uncorrected.
>>34622884
>it's all aesthetic and reticle preference
Only if you don't care about battery life and whether your optic has a good chance of spontaneously shitting the bed within your lifetime.
Granted, when eokek stopped storing their batteries in-line with recoil, the malfunction rates went down drastically, but they're still way too high for a "premium" optic.

>>34622397
>used to have pretty bad myopia + astigmatism, red dots of all kind were a mess
>post PRK
Works fine on my machine. :^]
>>34623390
Problem is this is the only issue I have. Eyes are fine aside from this. Only discovered the problem after I bought the Aimpoint.
>>34623405
>astigmatism
>eyes are fine
They really aren't, pham. You get used to it (it's pretty easy to get good results on Snellen with pure astigmatism, since your brain is trained to compensate for it and approximate the edges), but it's still shittier than a 1 natural visus. If you try out the correct cylinders for you, everything will suddenly look nicer even though you never felt something was wrong before.
>>34623435
It's mild and only in one eye. Once I hit 40 I'll probably get glasses, but until then there isn't really a point.
>>34623159
>I live in Texas and after going to the range (where my EOTech saw maybe a fifty degree change in temperature,) I was experiencing thermal drift of about eight inches high and to the left.
You're so full of shit. 8 inches is beyond what anyone has experienced in testing. I leave mine in my garage which gets to high 110's in the summer and freezing in the winter. Mine has kept zero just fine.
>>34622846
Its garbage unfortunately
>>34622846
Talking about the Razor or do they have something else coming out?
>>34622397
Anyone else exclusively use the red dot in FPS games instead of the holo? The holo's box just takes up too much room and blocks your vision.
>>34626858
>1 KEK=0.5 MOA
What did they mean by this?
>>34624330
Thats good to hear. Woman works for L3 so I can get a 25% discount on their optics. Guess ill pick one up.

memetech still stands alone

EOTech are the best red dots out there.
>FOV
EOTech
Like a 40" plasma screen, it's FOV is huge and thus target acquisition is fast.
Aimpoint
Like a Swedish cuck shed.
>Battery Life
EOTech
You can afford it.
Aimpoint
Good, you don't have to buy batteries so you'll have more money to spend on your wife's son.
>Thermal drift
EVERY OPTIC HAS IT.
TL;DL Poorfag tears.
>>34627098
I like your bantz and while I might not take it so far - you are on point.
EOTech gets wayyyyyyyy fucking more shit than they deserve

The most expensive Eotech is as much as the midrange Aimpoint microdot.
>>34627859
>dwight you ignorant slut
probably best line ever delivered from reddittv
>>34627131
They get the appropriate amount of shit but for the wrong reason. Their battery life is fucking pathetic and I have no idea how anyone can be willing to accept it considering Eocucks competition.
>>34627904
fuck off, the office is great
>>34627938
See to me that's almost a non-issue but I get the reasoning, even if it doesn't really affect me.

1 KEK = 0.5 MOA

Like 1 anon made a post implying that, most everyone else is aware you're not paying Elcan prices
>>34628266
> you're not paying Elcan prices
Yeah you're just about on par with *snrrk* vortex.
>>34628281
I personally put cost on the back burner to performance, it it performs and is cheap cool, if it performs and is expensive cool.
"cost as an objective" is a shit mentality from a shooter's perspective - from an organization or military standpoint, sure.
>>34627080
What reviews sempai?
>>34628411
I should not have worded it as review
but the "first impressions" from users/owners are uninspiring to say the least - can't be assed to tell you where to start the thread but if you jump in on the last page you can clearly see there are issues - the reticle is supposed to be a super crisp display, christ sake's that's why everyone wants holographs, but it's just messy junk in real world lighting.

thx m8 she loves /k/ right back
>>34628548
yeah it's just such a shitshow - I'm not an EOTech fanboi, I'm simply a contrarian, in this case there are plenty of reasons to walk away..
>>34628490
This unit was out of spec.
The biggest knocks against it are:
It's huge
It's heavy.
>>34628766
No more QC issues? That's good to hear.
>>34627955
>office
>great
Pick one anon. The only "great" thing about the giant orfice is Steve Carroll.
Why doesn't Aimpoint just develop a new red dot with a wider field of view and something similar to EoTech's GOAT reticle? EoTech would be dead forever.
>>34628841
because just like everyone else, aimpoint cannot into holographs
>>34628780
Yea. Forgot about the dust sealed inside issue, but Vortex claims to have sorted both the reticle issue and the dust issue.
I don't see why they didn't cut the top of the sight down. It would have looked more like an EOTech, but it would have also seemed a lot slimmer and would have been lighter than the equivalent EOTech instead of the same weight.
>>34628898
You know, on top of the bobbled release..... I'll just wait a few years, maybe see what happens to these units with some freeform use.
>>34629118
That's why I bought an EOTech in the meantime.
>>34629146
That's pretty sound logic m8 - /k/ and every gun owner with a keyboard and internet connection seems to think the EOTech line has somehow failed, yet.....I'm still waiting for any other reliable holographic optic...been waiting 9 years now....
Until then my ancient unkillable 512 will have to suffice, also props to EOTech for servicing it (when nothing was wrong) for free.
>>34627859
Wrong.
The only optic that Falipoint has that is more expensive is the Comp M4, and that's due to the Army buying them up.
Keep crying poorfag.
>>34624330
Congrats on YOUR optic working. It doesn't change the fact that the dependability of EOTech is spotty and, in my case, non-existent.
>>34624330
>works on my machine :^)
>>34628841
>>34628853
Holographic sight systems (real nigga holographic sight systems, that is,) rely on lasers, which are pretty fucking power intensive. That's the reason EOTech's reticle is fuzzy and made up of many individual points and, more importantly, why the battery life doesn't get past 1,000 hours. Certain reflex sight systems can have LED illuminators with an etched reticle built in and still achieve battery lives in the 50,000 hour range. Just look at Holosun's HS510C which is about the only optic that ticks all the boxes (which the exception of Aimpoint's stupid strong housing.)
>>34630835
>in my case, non-existent.
Literally no one else gets 8 MOA shift. Seriously go try to find a google search result before the lawsuit talking about zero drifts on EOTechs having any relation to temperature shifts. There are zero results because no one even noticed.
There's a ton of things that can affect zero including powder temps, load changes, you being a shit shot, atmospheric conditions, etc. Literally no one was able to ever come to any conclusion about EOTechs losing zero to temperature shifts until after the lawsuit, and secondly new EOTechs have even less than trijicon MRO's. Aimpoint, conveniently hasn't ever released any data about their optic's zero retention during thermal cycling yet so you can't really say it's any better or worse.
>>34632683
Dude, the claims in the lawsuit, which were put forth by the DoD stated that EOTech's experienced thermal shifts of between 12 and fucking TWENTY MOA. I experienced thermal drift of 8 MOA, which was enough to make me get rid of my 512.
Accept that your optic of choice, while it does have a nice reticle, has some ridiculously glaring issues.
>>34623373
>Granted, when eokek stopped storing their batteries in-line with recoil,
I've never had a problem with my 552 malfunctioning, but it's relatively new.
>>34630835
And YOUR sight amd YOUR experience doesnt mean theyre all shit. Opinion is subjective isn't it? Butthurt turbofag
