Is China the only country besides the US that has already mass equipped their planes with long range (200km+) BVRAAMs?
>tfw even their Flankers get the PL-15.

PL-15 is an AMRAAM-C equivalent.
Replacing their previous AIM-120C5 class PL-12 and their Jewish Python-3s.

>In terms of air superiority weapons, Carlisle says the development of next-generation air-to-air missiles is also “an exceptionally high priority”.
>Raytheon’s AMRAAM is the current go-to Western weapon for beyond-visual-range air combat, but new long-range missiles being fielded by Russia and China are a significant concern to the Pentagon.
>Carlisle says outmatching the Chinese PL-15 air-to-air missile in particular is an “exceedingly high priority”.
>“The PL-15 and the range of that missile, we’ve got to be able to out-stick that missile,” he says.
Hmmmm
If PL-15 is only a C equivalent, why would the USAF want a D replacement to out-range the PL-15?

Because Carlisle wants that cushy job at a defense contractor

The MBDA Meteor is far superior to those chinkshit telephone poles.
While the max range is classified, the enormous 60 km NEZ shows that it got performance hitherto unseen.

Sweden has the Meteor in service on the Gripen.
It's a bit funny that Sweden alone, of all has the most advanced A2A missile in service.
As the things stand, India basically has no chance in the air war. If the US do not send some F-22s as 'volunteers' to fight for the Poos.

Procurement of the AMRAAM-D started in 2016, Carlisle was campaigning for its funding in 2015 while sequestration squeezed budgets.

How does one tell apart B and C again?
>>34606441
Very minor visible differences. Main difference is actually the radar. The C variant has a 3rd gen AESA like the J-20, while the B had a 1st gen AESA.

The additional antennae on the C's spine are long range data links for the PL-15s.
