Ausfag thread

Tell us about your recent purchases, stories, and complaints.

Did anyone here go to SHOT? It was pretty average, Warwick had the same shit with the only update that they now have their own factory to make the WFA1, but it will still cost the same and probably won't be shipped till 2019, anyone still gonna buy one?

Be careful with roos. No permit and you get caught your in for a bad time.

Deer get a .270 or bigger get on some forums amd go bush. In vic east of the hume north of the princes hwy there is deer all over! Game licence and maps on the gov hunting website.

This is vic based info
>>
Waiting for my Nikon monarch to turn up so I can put it on my No.4. At least until RPRs become obtainable to the masses in WA.
>>
>>34603176
Yeah we're careful, though there are shitloads of them and they keep knocking beehives over. We only blasted two of them last summer so I'm hoping they come back in force so I can really test my mossy

Would a shotgun be adequate for deer? I'm in Vic too.

In a word no its not legal unless it has a front and rear sight can shoot slugs dont recall the law.

All the info you need is from the aus deer asos and from https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.gma.vic.gov.au/hunting/deer&ved=0ahUKEwjjxszJ4JfVAhUKgLwKHZVqDbIQFggzMAI&usg=AFQjCNGV3fXEys18tkwo0HYS1cQJy1bbCA

Anyone surrendered any firearms this gun amnesty? Is it really no info kept about the person surrendering them?

It's not that I've down anything illegal it's just my grandfather passed away and in his garage there was a trunk and inside is his uniform, a M1911 with multiple mags and box of bullets and what looks like an FN FAL which was fully loaded and what appears to be a couple of dummy grenades where the top pieces were already off and its all hollow. its just i dont want to be handing this shit in then have these cops snooping around my house because i've got 3 medicinal pot plants in my tin shed out back

State/Suburb?
>>
>>34603255
Might as well kill two birds with one stone, and use the 1911 to kill yourself.
>>
>>34603255
Unload them. Call a dealer tell him you have a deceased eastate with un reg firearms. Take them down surrender and run away!
>>
>>34603255
why not get them registered
also pot is decriminalised in most states afaik
>>
>>34603255
Better you keep quiet and preserve them than take them to the government to get melted down.
>>
>>34603267
May as well post your street address while you're at it

Obviously a troll but if anyone even considered handing in such a treasure they deserve castration.
>>
>>34603188
>Would a shotgun be adequate for deer?
If you can get close to the buggers slugs or 00 will sort them out, ones near my place are a bit 'shy' as we murder them fairly regularly and don't want TB or foot and mouth disease on the property. Plus once in a while they get jammed in a fence or something equally retarded
>>

Every category

>>34603255
State? Would probably buy them off of you.
>>
>>34603289
Damn son. What do you do for work?
Also did you post your licenses with your name or something?
>>
>>34603281

not everyones a troll. I'm in vic if it helps. It's possible for me to somehow transfer them into my name legally?
>>
>>34603310
You'd need a cat H and D, you're better off trying to sell them to someone who can legally register them somehow
>>
>>34603307
My licenses with all my info cropped, except left one with the number.
Standard AB, instructor ABCDHM, sporting H, recreation M, Collectors ABCDHM.
I do gun stuff for work. It's not worth it desu

>>34603310
If you have a category H license you will be able to put the 1911 on it, the FAL(more than likely an SLR), absolutely not.
Dealers will pay for them, however if you're planning a trip up north I'll probably buy it for a few thousand.
>>
For the guy after a Swiss K31, try Lawrance Ordances in Sydney.
>>
>>34603319
How big is your collection? I played airshit with a guy who has a ABCD for professional hunting, runs some pro-gun facebook page as well I think, I think he only had an AR and a WASR though, since they're so expensive.
>>
>>34603319
I do ABCDH in NSW, don't collect anything though
>>
>>34603337
Personally only have AB's, but it's sizeable.
The company owns a few CDH's, nothing too fancy.
Will be adding C's and D's though this amnesty however.
>>34603343
What sort of licence?
>>
>>34603344
Primary producer + pest control business on the side, handguns are mostly just a hobby but I do instruction in them
>>
>>34603353
Fantastic. I do a lot of farm work, part of it is culling but right now it's just a thing between mates and they pay me in cash/diesel/meat etc but are keen for me to get into it as a business.
I figure I could contact a range and see if they need any safety courses done, and match up a cull or whatever that week/weekend at the same time.
Was setting it up a pest destruction business difficult? There's no one else in the area, so won't be treading on anyone's toes.

>>
>>34603379
wew that's right even replicas and airsoft is banned there.
>>
>>34603386
Replicas are OK with a permit, but some nerf guns are banned.
>>
>>34603364
Sounds good, if you can get mates as 'customers' then its well on the way to a business.
Biggest hassle was all the government paperwork + insurance, the actual business I rolled into my existing small business so that wasn't very difficult at all and just added my brother in law as an 'employee' so he could get his Cat-D via that.
Not a huge amount of money in it of course, have about 12 properties in the area, few outside of it and do a bit of gov work in the state forests, the odd council job, some national parks- the later is worth a look in if you can get some mates that are rangers or in the forestry. They can make it a really quick process to tender quotes and set up an area.

Course like anything, reputation is everything

Is this worth it for a bit of fucking around and teaching people about shooting? It looks like a bit of fun.
>>
>>34603407
Let me guess, this counts as a "firearm" down in Australia? Or are you going to surprise me and say to can buy it from a Walmart like here?
>>
>>34603405
The mates are dead set keen on paying for the service properly and keeping everything above board, country people are very honest people sometimes. How much is your insurance?
For my safety course training it's $800/year for public liability, which isn't terrible.

>>34603407
Yea mate they're good fun, don't make much noise.
>>
>>34603434
We don't have Walmart. Only recently got Costco

Treated as a firearm, no fun allowed. On the easy to get license though.
>>
>>34603434
Yeah it's horseshit, air rifles are the only semis that don't have a hard to get licence.
>>
>>34603441
About 1100 a year, which covers 2 people and has a fair bit of coverage. I mean basically most years we make a small amount of profit on top of the expenses which isn't going to put our kids through uni, but we're doing our bit to get rid of feral beasties- which is why I do it.
Plus don't forget you can throw vehicle and firearms wear and tear through taxes, which is handy money for spares or a new gun.
>>
>>34603407
Yeah, knocking over soda cans is a good time
>>
>>34603475
Are suppressors allowed under cat D?
>>
>>34603480
Yep, we sort of looked at them as its just another form and unlikely to be knocked back, but all our shit is pretty speedy and I can't be buggered messing around with subsonics, trying to get them to cycle through the rifles and all the other hassles.
If there was some sort of regular culling near a built up area where noise could be an issue, we'd look at them a bit more but as it is just not worth the time.
>>
>>34603472
Did that ban or restriction increase on lever-actions ever go through? I recall reading about it on /k/ like a year ago.
>>
>>34603537
Some states re-classified ones with a magazine capacity of more than 5 as the same category - and restriction - as semi autos, but not all states.
Just shotguns too, not .357s and whatnot.
>>
>>34603537
Yes.

There was no vote or anything. The police just said it was so and then it was. Because down here the Police make the law as well as enforce it.
>>
>>34603063
any of you in the army? Considering joining the army something to do with armored cavalry.. Only issue is I don't particular enjoy the idea of being cooked, perhaps i'd rather just be a normal soldier.

Sorry i know this isnt really related but idk where to ask
>>
>>34603569
2+ year waiting time for infantry so enjoy that.

Also check out /meg/, they'd have answers.
>>
>>34603581
damn 2 years? i didnt expect that. I guess it's not like the US where we just need an infinite supply of soldiers
thanks mate ill have a look
>>
>>34603545
The ATF does the same thing to us in the States more often than not.
>>
>>34603255
How could you even think about handing that into the government to destroy? Keep it hidden away as your personal stash nigger.
>>
>>34603677
The point of the amnesty is to hand in(SELL) to dealers so they can keep it and have more used guns on the books.
The police stations around here are turning people away and telling them to go to a dealer.
>>
>>34603063
Is an AR pistol legal in Aus? It seems to meet all the requirements in QLD provided it has a 10rnd mag.
>>
>>34603746
probably only if its a pistol round
>>
>>34603746
>>34603802
as far as i know short semi auto rifles can technically be classed as cat H but any attempt to do so gets you laughed out by which ever police station youre dealing with. I do know there is a few registered T2 rifles on the books as handguns but good luck trying it now
>>
>>34603802
Only says it has to be under .38 inch (why the hell is that in imperial when we are metric?)

>>34603933
Then they have no real reason to ban it.
