Since the 5.7x28 mm is becoming quite popular thanks to its ability to penetrate body armor, why not neck down a 45 ACP to 5.7mm with a 40 degree shoulder angle and put it in a 1911? You should be able to get at least 750 m/s at the muzzle with the right powder.

I don't think that would feed very reliably.

What alternate universe do you live in?

Don't bottlenecks usually feed better, because small boolet into big chamber (ayyy)?

Can I get a win mag variant?
Like 22 tuba win mag?
NOW WITH EXTRA BIG ASS BRASS!!!
Fuck 5.7, 7.62x25 is where it's at, surplus punches through 3A Kevlar
>>34602352
No, that would never work reliably in a 1911 magazine.
>>34602294
you know this might work in a helical mag, with a long barrel. we could do like 70 round helical mag on a 16 inch barrel and make a bitchen carbine

Steel core AP ammo is banned. Isn't this a crime to own 7.62x25? Or only to make ap ammo is a crime?

Somebody must be buying it to support the price they charge for it.
>>thinks it can magically defeat armor
It's not magic. Velocity really does defeat soft body armor.
>>velocity measured in metric
What's wrong with metric? It's accepted all over the world and has had official status in the US since the 1860s.
>>below 2500 feet per second
Still considerably more than all common straight walled pistol cartridges.
>>34602360
That wouldn't fit in a handgun.
>>34602395
How can you be sure? The shoulder on 22 tuba takes up too much of the cartridge, but we could change the shoulder angle to give the cartridge more body.
>>34605108
Dude it's expensive BECAUSE nobody buys it.
>>34605125
Well, there is still a market for it, even if it is only a niche market. Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to its door.

Why have that separate empty zone in the case? Why not just move the neck back to the top of the powder column?

>>34602352
I think you're missing how the rounds would have to be stacked to even get that to work

I have fun blasting through shit up here in canada.
Surplus steel core 7.62x25 is cheap as fuck and fun to use.
I try not to shoot steel with it since im afraid of ruining targets.

>>34605211

According to the Rubin’s patent, the piston ring around the base of the bullet allows for more energy to be used to drive the projectile than a conventional design. The piston ring is stopped at the shoulder while the projectile continues down the barrel. The projectile is 31 mm in length and had a muzzle velocity of about 800 m/s (2,600 f/s).
Early smokeless powder wasn't as high velocity as nowadays and the piston ring allowed more fps to be wrung from the propellant
