Well assuming you have no other guns, I suggest you get the SKS because it's more useful, although you can also get about as okay AR-15's for nearly the same price. Also I wouldn't recommend it if it looks like >>34597749

Unless you've never fired a gun before. Then I suggest getting a 10/22 instead because it's a bit more compact, does the same stuff, and isn't a neutered weak ass version of some other gun.

I have never 22s but no semi autos. Also cali. So it is a fair price. But I'm on the fence because the sks is a bigger roumd than what I have, and that's good and bad

Those stocks don't look too bad in my opinion but they're rattly and not very sturdy. See if you can get a regular stock in plastic, or if you need to have a pistol grip, a Tapco stock (but make it black, the tan ones look like dogshit). I feel that the SKS handles better with an old fashioned curved stock though.

Those extended mags aren't legal in CA, because the higher capacity and how they are readily detachable. Also their reliability is spotty.
You need to get rid of the pistol grip and get a small detachable magazine, or you need to put the normal fixed mag back if you want a pistol grip.

A Mini-14 would actually perform better across the board (better accuracy, longer range, lighter ammo and recoil), and have detachable magazines which are actually reliable, but it'll cost more.

No bueno, .22LR leaves a lot of lead in a rifle barrel and that's an issue for an AR15, it'll clog the gas port eventually.
