you can put regular soft armor from a vest and rifle plates in the jacket, but you can't DIY the arms, legs, IGP or collar unless you're willing to layer your own kevlar, which I have neither the time nor money to do

It's very bulky and comfy even without any armor. it's 100% nomex/kevlar mix and pretty heavy and durable for what it is. the shell is rip-stop and looks like it has armor even when it doesn't so if you're just larping then you don't need any armor

not yet but cooling suit is definitely an attainable goal, judging by the frequency they are sold on ebay vs the bomb suits and they are sold by med-eng as well. not sure how much they cost but i've seen suit/apparatus kits for $100. keep in mind that you have to buy bottles (HS50) that you fill with water (and some algaecidal chemicals) that you freeze for coolant.
