Which is the most OPERATOR watch of them all, and why is it CASIO F-19W?
>>
>>34581356

Osama wearing it and it being used for bomb making doesn't really make it operator.

Google this watch and you'll end up on a government list I assure you.

I like it because:

The led diode doesn't put out EM frequencies when you set it off, and it goes off when you release the button instead of staying on

(hold any other watch with an AM radio going nearby, you'll see)

easy to switch to 24h

classic, toned down looks (my dad used one like it in the 80's)

metal band won't break like plastic ones or wear out like spring loaded bands

easy to use

as waterproof as I need (I'm not a fucking scuba diver)

the battery has lasted 2 years so far, and is still going strong.

Agreed on all counts.
The looks are great. Nice enough to go with my uniform which is black and gold but also cheap and durable enough that I'm not worried about it if I'm using force.
The timer is also easy to use for my runs.
Easy switch to 24 hours is nice also because for work everything is 24 but I'm not going that autist that walks around talking in 24.

F-91W is mediocre. Doesn't read well in dim (but not completely dark) conditions. Like my front dim hall, trying to check the time as I'm about to head out and I can't read it. The screen doesn't have enough contrast to be seen and the light isn't enough to actually light it up. Try the F105W. Very similar in size and functionality but the light actually works worth a shit. Also rubber straps suck the moment you start sweating. I swapped mine for nylon and like it.

F105W + nylon strap > F-91W

>>
>>34581998
One thing about americans and 24-hour clocks is that they think it's exotic and MILITARY, so they say "fourteen hundred" instead of fourteen. And TWENTY TWO HUNDRED instead of twenty two. To make it sound more awesome.

BTW where I am right now, the time is eleven twenty-three. Not ELEVEN HUNDRED TWENTY THREE

Not so much concentration as just slightly more effort.
Its a mechanical instrument where you have to interpret the reading on it and convert it to a time.
It takes slightly longer than just reading the time.

>>34582928
Literally nothing will happen to your watch from an EMP. The watch is too small of an antenna to induce a current from the pulse. The electric grid, everything plugged into the walls, long antennas, long cables, etc are what's at risk
>>
>>34583032
If you mean hourly beep then yes. But you cant turn off the beep when you scroll trough the functions like stopwatch or alarm

>>
>>34581356
Wrong.
It's Citizen Ecodrive One.
>>
>>34582940
The point was that quartz is vulnerable to EMP, making it the LEAST reliable.

Quartz has a greater standard deviation than mechanical, but mechanical deviations always add or remove a second whereas quartz will go up one second one day, up another second the next, down one the day after, ad infinitum.

A $500 selfwinding pocketwatch will be accurate for weeks, given ideal humidity.

Seiko G757 on ebay. I bought a broken 5010 and the case from a 5000. Broken ones are far cheaper than working ones, and the only problem is usually four capacitors used to power the screen.

This one looks a bit beat up, but salvageable. I'd make an offer to the guy and see if he accepts because usually the bids on these stack up quickly.

Also here's some advice: Ones where the screen is only displaying some segments probably have corrosion or dirt on the contacts between the screen and the PCB and old capacitors. Ones where the screen isn't visibly damaged but doesn't display means that either the battery connection is too dirty to work, or the capacitors are dead. Ones where the light comes on but the screen doesn't work means that the only problem should be bad capacitors.

Because that's 900 dollars and a broken G757 with a good case and crystal can be found for under 200 and repaired for a few dollars. Also I heard that the repro is supposed to only last 7 years before the screen dies.

Personal pick is the Casio F-108

>Water Resistant
>Nigh indestructible
>Incredibly simplistic design
>no need for fancy extra gimmicks
>$20 at the nearest store

About the only downside is that cycling modes makes it beep, but it's a non-issue for the most part.

Silvermans if you want a new unissued one. Price has rocketed up in recent years, mind. Second-hand or surplus ones are relatively easy to find - the latter will be very likely beat up, but that can be an aesthetic plus. Be careful of rubbish Chinese-made copies, very often branded 'MWC'. Oh - it's a CWC G10 - standard issue wristwatch of British forces. If you're flush get picture-related; issued to sneaky-beaky types.
