why don't you want an AR, special snowflake syndrome? get some flashy aftermarket part if you need to be different.

you need more money for a battle rifle.
Fals, ptrs, and g3's are expensive. You can maybe build an ar-10 for $800 but it's not going to be anything special and you're going to need to drop more on a scope.
if you just want to shoot 308, you can get an okay bolt rifle and entry level scope within your budget, but again, you're not going to be able to afford ammo.
