So, I think I played a little too much GTA V and let my horrible MS Paint skills get the better of me. Now we have this; a compact grenade launcher. Basically a sawwed down M79 Thumper. If one were to do this IRL, would it be usable or useful?

They already have those. They're called grenades.

Kinda.

google m79 pirate gun

I want to see you throw a grenade as far as a goddamn grenade launcher.

That's actually pretty fucking awesome. Guess I wasn't looking hard enough.
SOG guys in 'Nam were known to carry chopped M79s with them. They were used as a standoff weapon, so in case of an ambush they could quickly unload a 40mm grenade or two and disappear into the jungle in the ensuing chaos.

>thumper
Now that that's out of the way I believe this exact thing has been done in the past.
Only used with buck or flechettes if I recall. Intended as an anti-ambush weapon

Oops, forgot my image.
Enjoy, OP
Yes.

>past
Step it up nigger, tier one operators are still using these to this day. >>34565062 was the alleged loadout from the OBL raid IIRC
I wonder how useful this kind of thing would be on a motorcycle. I have to imagine some bike gangs would cause some major troubles with these, yeah?
>>34565174
Just said DEVGRU in general, no mention of any specific deployment.
But yes, probably was carried on that raid.
the kick on that badboy must be brutal though. imagine trying to shoot the fucker one handed

>>34565081

>>34565041
You guys know 40mm launchers kick like a mother fucker right?
>>34565149
Poor doggo
That picture always makes me laugh, that absorbance pad didn't stand a chance
The sheer volume and force behind the vomit stream is impressive
>>34565697
>>34566373
Probably because the real ones are rather uncommon.
>>34565041
These are in theater....used for 40mm RAM breaching rounds....mostly...and yes they kick
>>34565041
In Matt Bissonnette's book, no Easy Day, there's a picture of his lo-speed hi-drag loadout and he had an M79 that looked just slightly bigger than that.

>Know a guy who was in Panama
>specifically requested an m79 for his pointman
>Called it a thumper
why don't you fuck off, faggot.
