Let's have a melee weapons thread.
Is this worth around 300 bucks? It's made by a blacksmith by hand.
Would it handle real abuse?

that handle looks like it would hurt, you need a more rounded end unless you're a veteran

>Is this worth around 300 bucks?
No.

Sweet, my GF bought me a handmade hatchet from a Scottfest, and she's miffed I don't use it as a bush axe. I shudder to think what she paid for it out of her niceness.
>Would it handle real abuse?
No, it's cool but it's for looks/neatneess.

So what's a good axe or similar blunt weapon?
>>34561446
Unless the beak of that thing is made of stainless steel which it doesn't look like it is. Good luck breaking a warpick with a eagles talon properly tapered on it.
>>34561446
I know smiths who will make better axes than that for cheaper.
bow before your greatsword overlords
At first I thought the thumbnail was on of those mounted whale penises

The head looks like a Lucerne hammer or a Bec de corbin.
>Is it worth 300 bucks?
No

That doesn't indicate quality and often things that are "hand forged" are more likely to break because of shitty hear treat processes
Those grind lines are uneven, that wood is unfinished, the hammer side looks ok but the fact that it isn't flat is strange, the wood probably doesn't fit right since it's got that shim holding it together
Just because it's hand forged doesn't mean it's good, the best quality non-custom made swords on the planet never touch a forge and that's part of the reason as to why they're so excellent

Are you an Okie?

Hey, this thing was made by a drunken redneck, by hand. You wanna pay me $300 dollars for it? I'd use the money to replace the potato I'm currently taking pictures with.

Buy it
Break it
Post pics and cry

same smith?

This isn't elderscrolls so axes aren't blunt and that thing is just a reformed small axe. The handle is straight up an off the shelf axe handle. Just go to home Depot and buy a Vaughn or Estwing to wrap with leather strips from hobby lobby then spray paint the metal black. Otherwise buy a framing hatchet
