it will take 6 months to get your rpal and pal anyways.

You will 200% regret not sending in your app now,in the phone interview the rcmp WILL ask how long they've known you, make 100% sure they say 3 years. Theres no way for them to check unless your friends tell them.

6 months is a bit of an exaggeration but it took mine 3 months and I did everything possible to speed it up

Is it legal to make your own gun in Canada?
>>
>>34565998
Yes depending on the firearm. AR15s are illegal if you use an 80% lower.
>>
>>34565930
Yeah. Just figured I'd interject because it felt a lot nicer than I was expecting for a turkish gun. Was also impressed by the "Canuck" BHP they had.
>>
>>34565998
Yes. It is supposed to be the same as something already in the FRT and is supposed to be verified. New designs are supposed to go for inspection by the Tech branch so they can add them to the FRT. Restricted are supposed to be registered before construction and verified after.
One problem is the RCMP have just declared anything that could be turned into an illegal weapon is in itself illegal. They are fucktards and it won't hold up to even the briefest court challenge but until then it's a pain in the ass.
>>
>>34565998
Yes. If it's a new autoloading design, you will need to submit the design to the RCMP for them to give the go-ahead but otherwise you're good to go.

It's a no-win scenario for the cops and they chose the one that doesn't have their officers dodging bullets on the regular. Can't say I blame them. Not like the aboriginals are paying taxes (and therefore the police officer's salary), either.

The entire reservation system should be abolished, IMO. All it does is engender racism and give all the money/power within the reserves to the chiefs who drive around in Rolls-Royce and live in McMansions while everyone else on the reserve drive 12 year old beaters and live in shacks with leaky roofs breathing black mould spores all day. The racism is pretty fucking bad there, too. I know a guy who is 75% aboriginal, but because of that one grandparent who was of Western European descent, he got verbally and physically abused by everyone on the reserve until he just gave up and left. You can only have your car windshield smashed so many times before you just say "fuck it". Living close to family wasn't worth it.

>>
>>34567355
100% legal.
The wording of the law is that the capacity of a magazine is based off of the firearm and cartridge it is designed and manufactured for. If you take a Glock 17 magazine and put it in your SUB2000, that's legal. If you take a Glock 22 magazine and load 13 rounds of 9x19 and use THAT in your SUB2000, then that's also legal.

>If you take a Glock 22 magazine and load 13 rounds of 9x19 and use THAT in your SUB2000, then that's also legal.
Unless you bend the feed lips to make it feed better, then you've remanufactured it for 9x19 and it's an illegal over capacity magazine.

>Implying I'm not going to get handguns anyway
If I'm going to break the law on where I can and cannot shoot my funs then I might as well break the other ones too since the punishment for breaking one of those laws vs. All of them is still "no guns anymore forever" and it would be easier to break the laws if they don't know I have a handgun in the first place.
>how many times have you been pulled over and searched
Pulled over twice by the same qt female cop on separate occasions. Searched once. 2 years of driving in rural ontario total. I know I could hide it, that's not the issue. The issue is that if I ever by chance do get caught breaking 1 of the laws then bye bye literally all my legally acquired funs.

Imagine if I was shooting on my own property and someone who drives by snitches on me to the horse gestapo. A quick background check and they see I have no RPAL. as they pull up I dispose of the handgun down a secret compartment in literally anything and I explain that I don't have any handguns and I was just shooting my little plinking rifle. They doubt what I'm saying and peruse the area for anything like a rabbit hole it could've gotten ditched in before leaving. Now imagine if I had an RPAL and a registered handgun. Now they'll be asking where it is. I suppose if I had 1 registered and 1 illegal unregistered handgun then I could say "look here my handgun is still locked in its safe and unfired" but that's a lot of time and money down the drain.

RCMP DISCLAIMER - I'M TOTALLY LARPING. DON'T TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. I DON'T HAVE THE GUTS TO BREAK THE LAW.

>>34571697
I really want to do these kinds of competitions but I have some pretty big anxiety issues and since I'm very competitive I'd probably give myself a heart attack from the pressure I put on myself. Still worth the risk in my opinion.

My main issue with the RPAL and guns acquired with it are the restriction for where you can shoot it. Really bugs me.
>>

Ya I have one on my c7
>>
>>34572066
Yea but the chances of getting caught are extremely low, and even if you do get caught the chances of being arrested are very low if your not a complete fucking sperg, your polite, and you identify yourself right away with 2 peices of id and a range membership. Something criminals never do. Do you not live near large tracts of forest? If your so paranoid get a PCC in the same caliber that uses the same mags as your pistol, problem solved. Except for your crippling fear of the police.
>>
>>34572066
what are you going to do, pop into your local BlackMart and pick up a couple of gats? you got a godfather that's blessed with many friends that can hook you up?

lol, dude, you're not going to make it to getting arrested for having/shooting illegal handguns, you're going to get arrested looking for them and trying to buy them
>likely from a snitch or a junkie, who will see you as his get out of jail free card, or from an undercover cop/narc, or from a regular unemployed nignog that's not a criminal, who just looks like a badass and hangs in the hood, so you're going to approach him like you saw in the movies and he'll have the authorities waiting for you when you come back, cause he's a regular law abiding dude who doesn't want any trouble

just enjoy your non-restricteds legally and get a proper RPAL if you want to play with handguns, like the rest of non-autistic population
>>
Out of curiosity, would you guys buy a new-production pistol chambered in .30 Reid (.32 ACP necked down to .308 caliber)?
>>
Question fellow maple niggers.
I'm looking to buy an AR in the modestly near future. But I want to have a couple alternative uppers for it. So that got me thinking. I'd the upper a firearm as far as Johnny Law is concerned or could I walk in, pay cash and walk out like any other firearm accessory?
>>
Hey /K/, got a question for you regarding the law. My dad just passed away, and has an unregistered handgun. Can I take it and register it without paying massive fines on my dads behalf? Or do i basically have to "steal" it from his estate?
>>
>>34572636
It's not .32 so it should be fine.
>>34573275
Depends. If it's prohibited, then you won't be able to keep it. If it's restricted, you can call and explain the situation and try to get it registered, usually you can.
>>
>>34573283

I cant remember exactly what it is, but its a fairly large revolver, some sort of s&w .44 magnum. I think it would be restricted.

I suppose i could call the gun cops and see what they say. Thanks

Just got the update on line that my license has been issued. Took them ~75 days from receipt of my app to issuing. I applied for RPAL as well and expected a phone call for me and my wife and my two references, but they didn't call anyone, just mailed a letter to one reference and had him call them. Is this pretty normal for PAL/RPAL applications?

Registration leads to confiscation. Their goal is to catalog as much as possible so that they can seize it for forfeiture to the Queen if they feel the need to (usually under the fraudulent guise of 'in the interests of public safety').

Don't register it, but know the risks & consequences for not doing so. Be very discrete about its existence. Don't post pics of it unless you're behind a vpn or something (even then..) judges handout warrants like candy. I know someone who lost a gun when the RCMP without a warrant asked a provider for IP info under the basis they were investigating child porn, they knew full well Telus would comply without hesitation in the fight against child exploitation. He posted a pic of a prohib that wasn't registered.

Also when talking to other gunnuts/spouses. People (rats) love to turn you in on a dime if they somehow have a change of heart.

Btw, my condolences about your father.
>>
>>34574991
Government agencies regularly monitor these threads photos like this are used to locate youngsters committing crimes like drinking while using firearms as well as using restricted firearms othervthan on a range. Your phone sends out pings to the nearest cell tower and even if its off and you make no calls it can be used to prove you were there.

Then the CFC called my 2nd reference a few minutes later. Got my licence in the mail about a week later.

You can carry a smaller canister of bear/dog spray, but keep in mind the lawdogs will try to fuck you if you use it against a person.

Start to think about things you can carry regularly that will do some damage but aren't necessarily weapons. I don't mean things like a roll of quarters in a sock or a bandanna with a lock, because cops aren't stupid.

But before that, step one is to practice good situational awareness. No Nonsense Self Defense is a great website for learning about this:

https://www.nononsenseselfdefense.com/five_stages.html

You're severely limited in what you have and what you can use. Plan accordingly.

everything you said applies to a regular PAL as well

people seriously need to stop pretending RPAL somehow "puts you on a radar" any more than PAL does.
if you want to tell yourself a story to make yourself feel better about not having an RPAL, that's fine, but don't spread obvious lies about it on the internet.
if you have a firearms license of any type, you're in a database, your name is being run through criminal record check daily and if something comes up you will get a call, you can have an inspection with a prior phone call and an arrangement made with a firearms officer (not having RPAL doesn't protect you from that, RPAL and "more than 10 restricteds" is just one of the possible myriad of reasons a request for inspection can be made, not the only reason), if you move your primary residence, you have to inform the CFO 30 days before your move, minimum, any interaction with the cops you have, they will be more cautious regarding you, and they won't go "well, he only has a PAL, not an RPAL, so we will treat the situation as if he couldn't have illegal restricteds and prohibiteds and if we are conducting a search we won't search any compartment smaller than legal OAL of NR firearms" etc.

if you don't want to get an RPAL, don't. but stop telling yourself you are somehow "flying below radar" with a fucking firearms license to your name.

one meaningful difference is the registration of restricted, they are specifically listed to you and if confiscation comes, you will have no options but to give them up. they're not your property but are effectively on loan from the crown until such time it feels you are no longer safe possessing them. if you're not ok with that reality, don't get RPAL, if you are, get it, enjoy it, give it up when the time comes -- no boating accident loss stories possible for something you can only take to the range and back in double-locked condition
>unless you live on an island and all of your trips involve a boat lol

>>
>>34582731
RPAL, address and city of birth (as part of verification that it's you, if I'm not mistaken) depending on province, you might also need a range membership or not (check if your cfo typically requests that during transfers, if you are in Ontario, for example, you don't need to provide range membership to get restricted )
also, like another anon suggested, at least get a cheap safe to start you off and keep your storage compliant

Stop being a fat lazy shitpump and learn how to run/get in better shape.

Getting in a fist fight/knife fight with your mugger is a retarded idea and so is carrying a concealed handgun in Canada without a unicorn permit. Don't make the mistake of thinking that because a couple of autistic tripfags on the anti-police echo chamber that is /k/ do something, that it is the norm.

Are there instances where you may have no choice but to fight? Yes, but by being in good physical shape, being confident, and having awareness of your surroundings, your chances of being victimized are astronomically low.

Toronto isn't the best city, but it's not exactly Compton or Jamaica Queens. It's pretty hard to end up in trouble unless you go looking for it or are stupid/inebriated enough to stumble into it.

tl;dr Keep looking like a basement dwelling neckbeard and carry around a roll of quarters, pocket knife and some dog spray in case a prostitute tries to solicit you for sex. Protect your virginity at all costs.

If you are so fat or disabled that you cannot escape a dangerous situation without risking a mandatory minimum 3 year sentence in fuck me in the ass prison, you should be spending less time looking at internet memes and more time learning about the bad parts of your city and how to avoid them.

>So if you're disabled in whatever way that prevents you from running away from a fight or effectively defending yourself in one without a firearm, you should be SOL?
>should

I never stated that anyone SHOULD be SOL, if CC was legal in Canada I would be one of the first people to be stuffing a handgun in my pants. You have to weigh the risks vs rewards of the likelihood of you actually being in a situation where your ONLY option is to start wasting motherfuckers versus the years that you will spend in prison if caught carry a concealed restricted firearm not to mention to criminal record that will follow you afterwards.

Realistically speaking, unless you are involved in the drug trade or remain in the frequent company of such people, you are not going to ever be in a situation where illegally carrying a concealed handgun is worth it in Canada. The repercussions for getting caught with one is no slap on the wrist. So use you common sense and situational awareness instead.

self-defense in Canada is legal in name only, if you are guaranteed to be charged with every possible crime after and will be bankrupted, if not sent to jail too, at the end of your ordel
>also, you are not legally allowed any reasonable means of self defense
a 100lb woman has the right to defend herself against a 350lb rapist and murderer, but no right to any means that would make that self defense viable and give her a chance

TL;DR: right to self defense with no access to practical means of self defense and a guaranteed criminal persecution for exercising that right is no right at all, but empty rhetoric of it
>>
>>34586985
>You probably haven't been through the legal system but you might be aware of how much of a joke it is.
I attend law school courses and have close family members working as criminal defence lawyers in Winnipeg that deal with firearm related offences on a weekly basis. If the crown prosecution feels that they have a strong case against you (which if the police do their jobs they absolutely will) they will almost always pursue charges against you in the form of an indictable offence which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 years for your first offence and 5 for subsequent offences. That is not including the firearms prohibition that you will face which is usually 10 years or more. Plus the financial loss of confiscation of your carried firearm as well as the rest of your collection. If the police are in a good mood they may allow you to give the firearms to a responsible relative with no criminal background instead of them destroying them.

possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
95. (1) Subject to subsection (3), every person commits an offence who, in any place, possesses a loaded prohibited firearm or restricted firearm, or an unloaded prohibited firearm or restricted firearm together with readily accessible ammunition that is capable of being discharged in the firearm, unless the person is the holder of

(a) an authorization or a licence under which the person may possess the firearm in that place; and
(b) the registration certificate for the firearm.

Punishment
(2) Every person who commits an offence under subsection (1)

(a) is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years and to a minimum punishment of imprisonment for a term of

(i) in the case of a first offence, three years, and
(ii) in the case of a second or subsequent offence, five years; or

(b) is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.

Yea but the chances of getting caught are extremely low if youre not fucking retarded and do something like use it broad daylight or stop a 3rd party encounter like a robbery. It helps living where theres no crime. Just stick to ccing innawoods and only carry in the city if its absolutely necessary and like i said, dont get caught, always have situational awareness, especially if you think you have to use your gun. True, but so are the chances that you will find yourself in an unpreventable situation in Canada that you need to shoot your way out of. The risk vs reward of carrying a firearm to deal with a situation you could not have dealt with a more legal way doesn't add up.

>Carrying a gun isnt just sticking it in your waist and going to town, you actually have to train to carry properly cause youre body language can clearly show you have a gun if you dont know what youre doing

I agree, but lets be honest, 99.9% of the people illegally concealed carrying a handgun for protection are not Jason Bourne. There is always the slim chance that your firearm printed through your clothing and some soccer mom called the cops on you without you noticing. It is impossible to be 100% vigilant 100% of the time. People on here often say: "How many times have you been searched without a gun", then imply that you will be searched the same amount if you had a gun on you, but that's not the case. You may be a solid reliable person that isn't going to snitch on yourself, but the same can't be said for your girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend who noticed a bulge in your shirt/pocket and assumed it was a gun even if he wasn't 100% sure.

What is to say that your crazy bitch of an ex-gf who knows you CC a handgun around doesn't 6 months down the road get jealous about your new hot as the sun gf and gives a tip to the police that you cc a handgun? Then they nail you as you are walking out of your house to go to work.

People are unpredictable and are the sole reason you should and shouldn't carry a gun, but that shit is still not worth carrying it illegally for most people.

Most people cant tell youre carrying a gun, including cops, people like me and you could notice, but the average hysterical soccer mom wont like i can cc a full size handgun in just track pants and a light shirt no problem, its all about body language and confidence, and of course what you wear. Also use a good holster so you dont drop it
>>
>>34588003
>Most people cant tell youre carrying a gun, including cops, people like me and you could notice, but the average hysterical soccer mom wont.

You would be very surprised what people assume. If you live in a high class Hollywood Hills type neighbourhood where nothing like that happens, sure. But that defeats the purpose of carrying a gun in the first place. If you are carrying a gun in the types of places you would want one, most of the inhabitants are well aware that there are drug dealers out there packing heat. The average /k/ommando edgy enough to actually do it is going to look the part. Where I live, soccer moms have called the cops on people for smoking cigarettes that they thought were joints because they were rolled. You think they wouldn't do the same if they thought you might have a weapon of any sort on you.

As for saying most cops couldn't tell if you're carrying a gun, I'd call bullshit in that. Most cops at some point in their careers have concealed carry a firearm themselves or arrested people that were concealed carrying a firearm. They are very well aware that seemingly normal people are out there with handguns on them and many have received training specifically in regards to noticing these things with lots of ample on the job practice doing so. You are running the risk of fucking up and making it known to anyone that has such experience. You don't know them, they may not give a fuck, or will assume the worst of you and involve the police. It's not worth the risk of severely fucking over your future so that you can carry a concealed firearm only to either cope with your autistic anxiety or feel like a big man (these people exist, I know one). No good employer is going to wait around for your ass to get out of jail after 3 years and be happy to welcome you back. That's a free ticket to clean toilets until you can find a less menial job that pays a dollar more.

Pretty sure you can't even pardon gun offences any more thanks to Harper.
>>
>>34588314
I'd argue that most cops expect it from a certain type of people and/or in certain areas. If you're a respectable looking person in a normal neighborhood, unless you're looking super obvious, they probably won't notice. Keep in mind that people can't be hypervigiliant 24/7.

Unlawful storage of a firearm =/= possession of a prohibited firearm. That's a really shitty justification you made since both carry two entirely different sentences, one of which is much less severe.

Contrary to what you may want you to believe so that you can feel like a victim, most cops aren't going to string you up over something stupid like leaving a safe door open accidentally or not having a trigger lock on something that should have it. But boy, it sure makes things easier to handle when the world is black and white with no grey, amirite?

Exact opposite actually. And its not hard to self train, there is lots of reading material on this subject and plenty of instructional videos on what not to do and what you need to do, but the best practice is to just do it, it may require training and more responsibility but its not like you make it out to be, super duper dangerous cause the state doesnt explicitly allow it and cause IF you get caught the state will ruin your entire life or even murder you over it cause the second you do carry theyll know cause all cops and even average soccer mom knows you have a gun. ill say it a million times, the chances of getting caught are extremely low if you know what to do. Like for example, theres been 6 shootings in the past 3 months, 3 in the same month in my city, and the cops havent got a clue who it is and turned to the public for assistance but suprise suprise no witnesses came forward. If the rcmp cant solve gang shootings what makes you think theyll look at thug you dropped and figured it out immediately? Do you think theyll see the shell casings and be like "Yep this is definitely from a registered firearm owned by anon up the street, lets fist him to death boys". Now if you shot someone in a nice neighborhood the cops would have no choice to get off thwir asses and find out who did it lest they want hordes of angry soccer moms reeing about how scary and dangerous life is.
>>

Nice strawman. Too bad it's a fallacious argument.

>Like for example, theres been 6 shootings in the past 3 months, 3 in the same month in my city, and the cops havent got a clue who it is and turned to the public for assistance but suprise suprise no witnesses came forward.

You don't seem to understand how police Investigative units will conduct investigations. If it is not blatantly obvious to them who committed a particular crime, and it happens in a populated place, there is the potential for witnesses that could come forward. You are talking as if witnesses are a certain thing when in fact they are pretty rare. Police "asking for assistance" is not an example of police ineptitude nor is it an example of apathy. It's a regular practice used to inform the public of happenings in their community and maintain strong community relationships while also stirring discussion in hopes that someone whom may have experienced something they thought was mundane actually could provide helpful information.

"Well I heard a loud bang and I saw a red Chevrolet Cobalt run a stop sign two minutes later at about the same time as the police said this murder happened. I just assumed it was a car backfiring but now i'm not so sure".

The world isn't as standoffish and scared as you are, 95% of people have no issues talking to the police about their experiences if it can help them do their jobs.

your aggressive hate for cats makes me thing we should see if you can float in a lake with a few anvils attached to you, just to make sure you're not a witch. you have nothing to fear if you're not a witch, Anon. you aren't a witch, are you?

Jesus fuck, what happened?

What's better?
The Norinco AR-15s or the M&P 15 Sport II? Both are around the same price now.

Norinco has more features, M&P has Miculek shilling hard

I dunno. What was once a low budget, rough around the edges, chinese made AR15, or an AR15 from an established and reputable american company known for making quality firearms?

I'll make it easy for you, the M&P 15. Yes, ambi controls are nice, but the M&P 15 is leagues ahead in terms of quality.

Hello I am looking for next gun advice.

I have just gotten my PAL/RPAL and my family is very kind to me, so my brother has gifted me his .308 Weatherby as well as a Lakefield 64 .22 rifle (almost thirty years old at this time) and a double-barrel .410 of unknown provenance and manufacture. All of these guns I have shot and enjoyed very much. He is planning on transferring me a Springfield XDM but I have not fired that gun. I have fired Glock and 1911 handgun previously and preferred the 1911 feeling.

My question is what to get as a new gun. My gun store tells me, a .22 handgun is ideal for me as it is cheap to shoot and I am not wealthy. However as I like to shoot in the bush (my family owns land) I was thinking an SKS would be good.

/k/ wisdom please. I am in British Columbia if this is important to know.

Anything chambered in 7.62x39 is pretty cheap to feed. Other than that, 9x19 carbines are a good option for plinking.

Honestly, I doubt it. It says "blackout" which makes me think it was made for AR15s in .300 blackout. Corwin Arms has some VZ58 brakes available. Check them out first.

Can we get the Ares in Canada?
I actually want one.

I don't see why not, nothing "scary" looking. Its just a lower, nothing like a "bump fire" stock so it should be fine i suppose.

Let me rephrase.
Is it available for purchase in Canada at this moment?

Shooting .38 specials would be fairly economical.
>>
>>34594839
Maybe not a usp 9mm. But buying two expensive, hard(er) to shoot handguns is retarded unless you're made of money and have a fair bit of experience with a rifle.
