What's a good semi automatic rifle for someone who is just getting into guns? I have an 870 right now, but I want something with some range.
$500 is my soft limit

ar15 or sks

Get you an AMD from classic if you want an AK
>>34553159
>ar15
Can I even buy a good one for $500?

>inb4 lol .22

"I want something with some range"
Go full BF3 and get a rifled shotgun barrel, high-brass slugs and a fucking scope on that bitch. Own the night, be the fucking batman.

Yes.

SKS
>7.62x39
>Cheap (should get one in great condition for under 400)
>Semi auto
Fits the bill for fun, cheap, and semi auto. Plus if you could move into AKs in 7.62x39 and keep using the same ammo

Kel-Tec Sub-2000
Can be easily found under $500, 9mm has a much better range than a 12 gauge. 9mm is still pretty cheap too.
Or get a used AR if you want 5.56. Try to get a AR with an animal on the logo, like a Bushmaster, Stag, or Colt. If you want to reach out to 500 yards, get a 20 inch barrel.

No SKS get an AK same cheap ammo and accessories but more reliable and simpler.
>>34553155
Your options are basically a poor AR15 build, an SKS, or a bad AK-style rifle if you want something that isn't .22. Nothing else to it

I saw zastava SKS's at cabelas yesterday for $600

No, it will jam constantly so blame the gun and not the user when it malfunctions.
