and people arent kidding about new sigs having rust issues... there was a stainless p226 that was listed as 1,400 dollars that had signs of rust already forming on the slide as it was sitting in the case.... how is this happening?

I have had 2x 229, M11-A1, P238, Sig 1911, 2x P226 Mk25, 3 P320 and none have had a rust issue.

HK P30sk is my EDC and a G34 w/ 33rd mag is my HD pistol before anyone rages about be being a bitter diehard Sig fanboy. Just oil your damn firearms.
>>
>>34549493
Pics please
>>
>>34550395
I'm not bashing them. I'm just not understanding how they are continuing to have issues. I'm not kidding. I'm talking brand new in the class case at the range with faint brown rust spots forming. 1400 dollar stainless Sig

has anyone else gotten one of the older SIGs and have it look like the mainspring was eating into the frame down there at the heel? it looked like that on my p228, with metal shavings and everything when i removed the grips, so i replaced it with one of the new polymer ones

brilliant, anon. glad you like it
>>
>>34552001
Thanks man. So far I'm in love. And that's a damn fine looking AK, and pistol of course.
>>
>>34551977
I didn't notice that when I had it opened up last time. Then again mine doesn't look like it's been shot to many times. Il have to look harder next time
>>
>>34552001

God why is there so much AK and eastern bloc shit on this board, every fucking thread.

why would you even post that, the OP is on Sig sauer.
>>
>>34552153
i was giving advice to OP in his last thread and wanted to identify myself.

it's also a pic i'm happy with

there are some good AK rifles out there, you might come around some day.
>>
>>34552153
I don't mind, the Sig is the focal point of that pic plus AKs have a charm that makes every photo better
>>
>>34549474
put the camera on macro and take a pic of the rifling, esp the 'throat' where the round would rest. I want to see if they are non-concentrically reamed.

There's a lot of life left in that p6. I'd recommend getting a parts kit from top gun supply just to keep on hand.

>>
>>34550412
I didn't feel like it would he polite to ask him to pull the gun out so I can take pictures to prove to anon that it's has signs of rust
>>
>>34552478
Looks like there's chatter/gouging on one of the rifling lands. Do you see it as well?
>>
>>34552835
Not from memory. This was pre cleaning. Could have been dust or lint from concealed carry. Il have to look closer when I get home. From memory it looked good
>>
>>34552482
35-40 dollars.

The reason I recommend getting it now is that the folded slide guns are no longer supported, so parts are kinda tough to find.

Especially the dual roll pin for the breach block.
>>
>>34552959
That's not bad at all... I figured I'd be looking at like 150. Now will this thing take p226 sights or 225? You have any recommendations?
>>
>>34553147
Here is the parts kit, I would subscribe to be notified when more come in stock, but it will probably be 3-6 months: http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-p225-9mm-parts-kit.html

In terms of night sights i'd go with the standard Sig factory NS, or the Trijicons.

Great, now I want a P6 lol

Oh, and >>34550395

Their finish is only getting worse and worse. SIG is about to become Colt; they have that Army contract money and regular civilians don't matter any more lol

Sig fags are going to be really crying when MAC does more reviews and they continue to fail.
>>
>>34553451
Lol sorry, and yeah I just don't understand... 1,400 dollars brand new, in the case and it's literally rusting.

>>
>>34553535

Yeah, and what's worse is Sig fags do what Glock fags do; start making excuses and pointing at other company's fuck ups.

Glock and Sig are going down in QA; both had a good finish and changed it... Why I don't know.

different anon here, but i would also recommend an SRT kit if the stock P6 trigger is anything like the P226 trigger.
they are inexpensive, easy as hell to install and can improve your reset by a mile
>>
>>34553671
I'm debating if I want to change that out yet. Shot it yesterday, it felt good. Always room for improvement of course
>>
>>34553551
Yeah after getting my p6 I was like "shit I'd like to get something new from Sig after seeing that I was like maybe il just get something CZ
>>
>>34549450
You done good OP. id take that trade any day
>>
>>34553833
The trigger on my W. German P226 had a really long reset.
I shot it for a long time and never thought anything about it, everything seemed to work fine. But eventually i stumbled on some pretty good YT vids about the SRT kit and thought what the hell I'll do it.
I am glad I did. it made a huge improvement on mine. I would not want to go back. And as I said, it was really inexpensive and quick-easy to install.

>>34553899
Yeah I debated myself for a while but someone in the last thread pointed out glocks are a dime a dozen. These seem to be harder and harder to find
>>
>>34554222
Don't remind me
>>
>>34554222
well don't they have to have some kind of importers stamp on them?
at least that one is somewhat small and somewhat unobtrusive
>>
>>34554249
Yeah from my understanding the only way you are getting a gun that doesn't have that stamp is if someone brings it across the border illegally
>>
>>34554222

The CAI ones seem to be in better shape than the PW Arms guns. My PW P6 has so much holster wear the corners of the trigger guard are rounded off.
>>
>>34552001
Whats the Optic on your ak man?
>>
>>34554353
Jesus, gives it character
>>
>>34549493
Stainless steel /= rust proof
Stainless steel = rust resistant

You still have to clean and maintain your stainless steel firearms. Maybe not as often as non-stainless steel firearms, but not never.
>>
>>34549450
Most used P6's never looked as good as that.

They usually came with black plastic grips and had a lot more external wear.
>>
>>34554492
Yeah looked them up. They are like 120 dollar wood grips. He included the original grips as well
>>
>>34554464
I agree. I was just blown away when I saw them brand new never fired in the case with signs of rust starting
>>
>>34554464
Depends. If it's 17-4 or in that series then probably not.
I wish they made guns in inconel. That would be amazing.
Inconel with a nitride finish(if possible).

>>34553550
That finish is actually really really good for a P6. Here is another of my W. german sigs (P220) that I bought NIB and the blueing on these old guns just always look worn.
>>
>>34554833
Still looks nice. There is just something about old pistols
>>
>>34555085
Definitely, I've got a weird thing for old Sig's.
>>
>>34555098

First time I ever handled a bunch of guns was when I went to a gun show. The very first time I grabbed an old Sig P220 I knew it fit my hand perfectly. Couple years later I was still too poor to buy a P220 or lots of .45 ammo, but then the trade-in P6s arrived. $380 later and I had my first handgun.
>>
>>34555707
My P6 was my first as well. the rails are showing a lot of wear now, but I still shoot it a bit. Its served me well over the years, and i've probably put 8k down the pipe with near zero malfunctions over the years.
>>
>>34555707
While this isn't my first handgun. I've owned a glock 19, 43, a SF 1911, HK VP9, and a S%W .38 revolver. This is the first pistol I actually care about. I will never get rid of this

God damn, What do you want for your wood grips OP?
>>
>>34556076
Also, OP, be sure to use grease on the rails.

A lot of Sig guys make too big of a deal out of the wear these guns will have on the frame, it is important to remember you have a steel slide on an alloy frame. This requires proper lubrication.
>>
>>34556215
Yeah I was doing research on that, just bought some grease. The grips are from this site. Kinda pricy but nice as hell https://www.hogueinc.com

>>34556460
Fuckkkkkkk sorry anon. I've had that kinda shit happen to me. Makes you hate yourself
>>
>>34556460

It's OK, that's not an unusual deal.
>>
>>34556440
I have the hogue cocobolo's on mine.

Awesome grips.

My original plastics cracked, and I wasn't carrying the gun any longer.

Also, if you see some shiny wear marks, its not a big deal, the wear on these guns is self limiting. The real issue is with the poorly fit exeter guns with Stainless slides. They slide material is so hard that it gouges and chatters the frame rails rather than just wearing through the anodization.
>>
>>34556539
Are there good photos of what bad slide wear looks like? Can't seem to find any... how are my rails doing? From your experience

In this picture notice the tops of the inside portion are badly worn, and there are chatter marks. This is what bad wear looks like. If you have some shiny spots its generally ok, but it should be only on the inner surface, and in the pic attached to this post.
>>
>>34556629
sorry, I screwed up that post, the top pic is bad wear, the bottom pic is normal.

>>34556639
No problem, okay cool. Il just keep them well lubricated. Thanks for finding that. I'm honestly happy as shit about this thing. Feel like a little bitch

Semi-relevant question: I want to pop my Sig cherry, but I can't decide between getting a P226 or a P229. I don't really intend on CCing it, but I just want a nice shooter. Is the slight extra length on the 226 worth it?
>>
>>34557025
From what I've seen they charge 800 plus for even their bare bones models. If you want a fun nice shooter, if look into a p6 or a west German p226. Cost you like 450 500

A few days after I came home with my first pistol in 2010. Three of the mags and the IWB holster came from a guy on a forum. The ammo and cleaning kit came from the dealer, who gave it to me along with a free transfer for fixing his shop computer.
