Talk me out of this meme. Why should I get a 5.56 rifle and .308 rifle when I could get one 6.5 grendel rifle?
Availability. Maybe a decade from now 6.5 will be commonplace but right now it just isnt mainstream yet. But yeah give it time, it seems to be starting to get some traction.

Same as any other nonstandard caliber gun, if you can maintain stocks of 2000+ rounds and reload then go for it.
>>34547335
>>34547348
Ammo availability isn't really painful. The internet is wonderful like that. I am sort of disappointed that my options are an AR build or a 3 MOA, banned VEPR but what can you do, right?
I expected more resistance. Why are you guys being supportive of my special snowflakism?
>>34547458
Because you can choose whatever the hell you want as an individual? If it's not a problem then i say fucking go for it, but their are other options that are more useful.
>>34547320
Learn to reload and shoot what you want.
>>34547458
>Why are you guys being supportive of my special snowflakism?
Because shooting interesting cartridges that nobody else knows the joys of is fun.
Ever shot a .257 Roberts or .35 Whelen?
>>34547320
I'm fairly sure Howa makes a mini action in 6.5G.
>>34547568
>but their are other options that are more useful
Such as? I find effectively merging the two most used centerfire rifle cartridges into one to be pretty damn useful.
>>34547580
I haven't even heard of the second one.
>>34547458
Because you are presumably an adult who can make his own decisions and won't lead to a statistic of why guns are bad m'kay
It's not even something super out there like 9×39 it's like the third most popular chambering.
>>34547604
If you want a single "Ramirez do everything!" chambering 6.5g will be hard to beat. Obviously more specialized chamberings will be better in their niches.
>>34547604
.35 Whelen is a .30-06 necked up to .35, heavier bullet selection that comes with it. Really need to reload to get the most use out of it.
>>34547604
As some of the other anons have pointed out you can acquire more of the others like 5.56, 7.62x39, and many other calibres. But if you want to go with that calibre I'm not going to hold you back at all. It's your money you do what you want with it.
if you have no problems getting your hands on ammo, go for it.
>>34547320
I would wait until the Army adopts it. Too niche right now.
It's not a meme. It's literally the best all purpose intermediate cartridge.
>>34547779
>It's not a meme
>intermediate cartridge
pick one
>>34547794
>falling for the battle rifle meme in 1970+47
>>34547794
what is wrong with an intermediate cartridge? next your going to start in all about how you need a30-06 because 308 is just too light of a round.
>>34547320
What is the rifle going to be for?
>>34547632
>If you want a single "Ramirez do everything!" chambering 6.5g will be hard to beat.
>mfw realized I read "Ramirez" and everything else in keith davids voice
>>34547632
>>34547779
That is what I'm going for here.
>>34547752
Eh. I don't enjoy waitfagging and the US military is probably going caseless to lower ammunition transport costs, not to a bigger cartridge to raise them.
>>34547905
Killing anything that needs to die to preserve my life and liberty, whether it's a deer that has made the mistake of being made of meat or a communist that has made the mistake of being made of garbage.
>>34547959
>military will probably go caseless
This is how I know you don't know what you are talking about
>>34547897
No. .30-06 is a meme. Get a 7x57 you plebs.
>>34547794
Someone call the army, we need to let them know they've been shooting memes for 50 years
>>34547989
Have they just been making all these caseless prototypes for fun then? What's your prediction, my trip bearing friend?
>>34548058
>>34547989
>army
>ever changing from 5.56 after spending decades fixing it
I will give you and a stack of hardcore Japanese pornography and crate of whiskey if they do a complete change to something else before caseless.
>>34548005
>7x57
My man
>>34547320
Why though?
>>34552504
It's easier to carry one 6.5 grendel DMR than a 5.56 carbine and a .308 bolt action.
>>34548005
Hey, anon. It looks like you accidentally typed 7x57 instead of 9x57. Don't worry, happens to the best of us.
Praise 9x57.
