Has your dad ever given you a gun?
>be me a few years ago
>me, my siblings and their kids are visiting my folks for Christmas
>have fun Christmas morning watching the kids open gifts
>my dad says "anon, there's a box over in the corner with your name on it"
>He gave me a Winchester 94 that he won in a card game in the 80s.

Based dad. He even set it up like it was A Christmas Story.

Yeah...kinda. I mean they were heirlooms that already belonged to me but i had yet to take possesion of.

and every couple of years and i would get up to go hunting and he would just put the gun in truck and tell me that's what i was hunting with.

I wouldnt look at it until i got into the stand, at which point i would spend the entire time scouring every inch while thinking about its history.

Sadly it was. She lived in Dallas and poster her contact on the /k/ommando zeemap that went around a while back. Some anon in Texas went shooting at Eagle gun range in Lewisville and then got pissed when she wouldn't fuck him or spout memes or something so he doxxed her, posted pics (non-nude). She was too fat for my taste but to each his own.

Dude, that sucks.

Reminds me of my entitled, self-absorbed cousins when my uncle died. He had a Henry repeater (the newer ones out of Buffalo, NY - not an original BT Henry). IIRC, he had meant to bequeath it to me. As I was well overseas, at the time, my cousins had barged in, de-facto sat on their step-mother, as the more brainless of the "Gruesome Twosome" grabbed all his affects and split without a second thought.

When I pressed them about it, they claimed the brainless one had called immediate dibs on it and squirreled it away.

Doesn't matter, though. Years before he passed, he did pass onto me a sizeable chunk of heirloom boom-sticks, and - by God - I clean and maintain the shit out of 'em.

Retard can have that repeater, if he didn't already hock it for meth. No way in hell is that 'tard going to get his mitts on great-grandfather's varmint guns!

When I was 9 I got a big ass Weihrauch air rifle that he'd gotten back in the 1960's that had superb match grade sights and that was just something I could practice on as much as I wanted in the back yard. I literally ran 1000's of rounds though that thing to the point it was lethal enough to cap bunnies, flying foxes and pest birds in the head consistently. Second gun was an old Anschutz .22LR when I was 12, single shot and that was a fantastic gun for accuracy. It completely depopulated the local bunny and fox population, plus I had a couple of uncles who helped me with aiming, being a responsible shooter and would take me out shooting with them on farms, using centrefire rifles and shotguns of various sorts.

When I was eight my father started instructing me in proper firearm handling procedure. Once while relinquishing him a pistol, my tiny child finger remained in the trigger guard and an accidental discharge occurred. When right by his fucking face. Like I'm talking one fucking inch. My father and I got into guns together, so there wasn't really any heirloom shit going on. Grandfather had a pair of arisakas from the war, but they went to uncles. Fine by me; they'd be properly appreciated by anyone in the family.
>mfw father tells stories about being 12 and sword fighting his brothers in the basement with a captured bayonet and katana, nicking up the blades in the process

Heirlooms aside, "my" first fun was a nugget I got for Christmas at fourteen, Christmas story style like OP. The gun range we went to was attached to an LGS, and I'd been eyeing it up for months. They're selling for five times what he bought it for now, but I'm keeping that shit.
>>
>>34545933
No, instead I gave my dad a gun.

However, he did give me one eventually, though not directly. Instead he gave me $500 and told me to get a CCW pistol so we can get our carry licenses as a family.
>>
>>34547998
Though, to add further, my dad did buy three shotguns in 12g, 16g, and 20g, so that me, my mom, and him could go out and shoot them. Mom is too arthritic to do it, so my dad and I ended up hunting and shooting shotguns together.

My dad took me to the lgs, and let me choose out of their cheap milsurp rifles. I asked to handle each one on the wall I saw, and ended up liking the feel of the mosin, which was a round Izhevsk 91/30 made in 1941. Thats how I ended up with a nugget for my 16th birthday. I still have that mosin, one of my favorite rifles to shoot to this day. It was the first rifle I could truely call mine, although me and my dad did go shooting alot with his ar15 together, which is now also mine afterwards.

I miss him.

My dad gave me a k31 when I was 15, he didn't tell me he bought one, just told me to hop in the car. Went to a gunsmith FFL and picked it up, and the gunsmith was pretty stoked, since it was a hand select that ended up being nearly mark free. All matching serials on receiver bolt and magazine, with a nice leather sling too, for $175 in 2007. I almost lost the mag when hunting that year, my dad was pissed until I backtracked probably a mile and a half to find a perfect rectangular hole in the snow beside where I had stopped to pee.

Glock 22 10 vs 15.jpg

The year I entered college, ole dad gave me my first ever pistol for Christmas. It was a Glock 22, and - a huge ole cherry on top - came with a High Capacity Preban 15-round magazine.

You gotta remember that this would have been in 1999, so two things. One, .40S&W was on the rise and still mostly well thought-of in the gun community, so this was not a cheap pistol the way they are now; and two, the 1994 AWB was in full swing. That 15-round magazine cost almost a quarter the price of the pistol itself.

I actually cc'd that brick for awhile before eventually buying piles of other options. Pic related are not my mags, but an comparison showing the sort of shit we had to put up with back then.

Nope. My dad has seemingly no interest in firearms, although he did take a safety course. My dad barely has any interest in me, barely thinks of me if I had to guess.

Its what can happen when you have 7 kids and you like to go travelling to do business and earn a living putting a roof over your families head. Or always on the phone whenever or wherever you are talking business or life with someone else. He has had cell phones since the 90s. I remember seeing him get a new phone at least once or twice a year.

Heck my dad gave up after two days of trying to teach me to ride a bike. I couldn't get a hang of it through following his instructions. So I taught myself in the course of an hour, wasn't that hard. Just have to learn to balance long enough to put your feet on the pedals and start pedalling.

He is really an outdoors guy, likes to drive boats and cars/trucks. Really a hands on kind of guy when he isn't on the phone or travelling all of the time. He invites me and my other brothers and sisters to hang out on the boat or go to the family cottage (he came from a relatively large family, not as large as ours though). I usually decline as I have far too little time these days.

For a guy who left his folks home to work in the oil fields of AB at the age of 18 he unfortunately kept us too well protected. Didn't force us to either pay up rent, didn't push us to go and get a job or develop life experience. No threats of having to the leave the house after turning 18. I currently am moved out, even though he isn't content with that even. Much of his attitude was before running his company. Back then he barely spent 1 on 1 time with most of us. Imparting knowledge/wisdom or asking us questions about life. A hard working guy who makes plenty of promises but doesn't have the focus to pull through on most of them.

So no firearms from my dad. He'd probably forget I owned firearms or that I have an interest in them if I didn't showcase them to him now and then.
>>
>>34548842
Made me laugh pretty hard. Mine came into my room, handed me my mosin and said "just put this in your closet and dont tell your mum, ok?"
>>
>>34545933
Most of my family isn't thrilled with my interest in guns. However, I'm inheriting 4: A Remington Model 51 (32 ACP) from my great-grandfather, a Colt Agent (38 Special) from his wife, a Ruger Single-Six from my grandfather (who received it as payment for gas in 1971), and a Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector (32 S&W Long) from his mother.

My old man is a regular shitter. It was my mom who gave me my first gun. At 14 she gave me a hacked Winchester model 97 that she bought off grandpa, a box of shells, and told me to kill my old man if he ever tried to hurt me or my younger siblings. She even took me out regularly to shoot both it and her pistol. "Always aim at the center, in the chest" she said. My fears were later confirmed when I learned she tanked regular beatings and was raped once or twice to keep him off us kids as she forced a divorce through. I asked why she didn't get the cops involved and she said she wanted to keep things as normal as she could for us kids. It worked I guess since none of us ever knew until we were told. She remarried to a guy who escaped his own disaster of a marriage and is happy. Never heard from my old man again.

I still have that shotgun and I intend to either pass it down or take it to my grave.

Thanks mom.

Was there someone else in your family who wanted the gun? Someone who had a great attachment to it because of the memories that are attached to it?

Then its not the same thing.
>>
Dad doesn't like guns and was visibly uncomfortable when I said I bought myself a .22 in 2009 as prices started to rise. I bought a brick of ammo with it and to this day haven't seen .22 on store shelves in my area since then. Anyway, when my wife and I moved back in with him and my brothers so I could finish my degree, it was made clear that I had to keep the gun and bolt separate and separately locked. Aside: my brothers are terrifyingly unstable and have pretty much no respect for privacy, so this was a good idea and I would have complied even without being told. He's warmed, slightly, to the idea of having a gun in the house since I got a K31 and took him to the prairie a couple of times now that both of them fucked up bad enough to get kicked out.

So no, Dad never bought me a gun and probably never will.

my dad "gave" me my grandfathers high standard sentinel when i was younger, he put it inside a box, with a box of ammo, unloaded and wraped in a towel, and made me put a lock on the box and give him the keys.

after a week or so he took away it from me.

He also gave me a pistol some time ago, and one day i went away for the weekend and put it in my dresser, under some shirts, his wife found it and went crazy over the fucking gun, i sold it.

She did the same fucking thing again, when i put my beretta 81 under my bed and the maid fucking found it early in the morning when i was out, the maid screamed and his wife went nuts over the gun and it was such a fucking hassle, my dad had to tell the maid it was an airsoft, i don't keep it home anymore.

Funny thing is i had probably 6 long guns on my bedroom and she didn't mind any of them, the maid cleans my room and picks up a shotgun every week, no problems at all.

i have guns, but none that he gave me, since it would be a "problem in his relationship" or whatever because she doesn't approve it, but he tells me he will give me my grandpa's gun one day.

I got a Marlin 60 for Christmas when I was 16. I got him a Winchester 94 for fathers day when I was 18. Fast forward to when my son was 21, I gave him my Mossberg and a beat to shit 870 basket case that I found in pieces at work. Then my dad gave him his bring-back P-38 when he was 23. I handed over my SMLE mk IV when he turned 26.

My son got another shotgun and a .22 when dad died last year. My daughter will get the lever gun and my mom's S&W Highway Patrolman once she's established in a place of her own. Between the wife and I, the kids will probably get another 20 guns or so.

Every day of my life is wanting to get out of this place, I've never even left the state, I've lived in the desert part the entire time too, I don't even know what its like to be in a forest, or around a river; I once gone to big bear, but I didn't even leave the car, the trees smelled so nice

The south seems like this mythical amazing place where everyone is nice, everything isn't expensive, and there guns at every turn of a corner; I want to believe

Why can't you leave?
Every califag on here moans about the place but they act like the border has 45 foot tall concrete fortifications.
>>
>>34551599
Cali is like a drug habit, once you realize it costs six figures just to maintain and that you should get out, there's no way to pool the money and find the help to get away.
>>
>>34551608
Considering all the fuckers there that have xboxes, guns, and money for fast food im gonna call bullshit on being financially stuck.
Will be harder than other states? Maybe.
Is it impossible? Absolutely not.
You just gotta be willing to sacrifice more to leave.
And the way some of these people talk, they really should do it because if living there is that bleak your ass will one day either od or suck start a 12 guage.

Cali is a terrible place, its a prison, it doesn't look too bad from the outside, but once you're in there, its a god damned hell hole
>>
>>34551657
And that's why you need to leave.
You don't need to be able to suddenly just shit 5 grand to get in your car tell everyone to fuck off and drive east til you cross the Mississippi.
If you can put back only 10 bucks a week then start doing it, if you can't then it's only a matter of time until your ass is homeless anyway.
Damn, I mean, get a bunch of jugs of water and hop on one of those santa fe trains that runs shit from the docks in LA to Texas.
You're seriously giving up and letting it crush you.

>>

You don't seem to understand that California does not work like other states. You don't live on income, you live on DEBT. Everyone lives above their means and rides the debt curve because if they didn't, they would starve. This is the way of middle class life in a communist state. If you're a poor fag, you're living off of Mack D's and welfare because entry levels do NOT pay a living salary. 1400 dollars a month gets you a studio in most parts of Cali.

No. I spent my childhood fearing a group of niggers would break in, and murder all off us. My brother and I made due with pb guns, and large knives.

I had to introduce my dad to guns and convince him it was necessary.

So now you just want to make accusations about me and my family. That's pretty low my man.

I was looking to move to Arizona at one time, because I've never been west and I have relatives there, my mother who I do care about very much, told me that I should go because she thinks it would do me well to get away from the bad memories we all have from here where we live.

Come to the Gunshine State you few poor based Califags. It's a little bit hotter here, but the ONLY thing we lack is open carry. Deer hunting sucks here, but the only 'regulation' for our hog infestation is that the state wants you to remove as many of those hellspawn pigs as you can shoot.

No family member ever gave me a firearm. feelsbadman.jpg Although I did buy my father his first pistol (P226)...which in turn got him into firearms. I knew it was a pistol he wanted because he literally talked about buying one for years: "Yeah if I was going to buy a pistol it would be a 226, they sure are nice. Me: "So get one!" Him: "No they are too expensive." (which was funny because he could have bought stacks of them if he really wanted to...I suspected it was my mother really holding him back)

So I called him up one day while looking at the firearm online and said: "Hey dad, I am looking at a P226 with nightsights, whatdoyouthink?" And of course he said: "Oh yeah those are nice are you getting one?" And I said: "No dad, you are. I am sending it to this FFL and then we can go and you can fill out the paperwork for it." I swear if you knew my father 99/100 times if he wants something he just gets it...so he is very hard to shop for/please in that regard. I knocked it out of the park this time, he was legitimately excited and happy. bothofushappyface.jpg I also bought my older brother his first rifle (AR-15) and picked out my little brothers first rifle to be gifted to him. (takedown 10/22)

Before this happened my father had been given a rifle (Argentinian Mauser M1890? iirc) from his brother that he knew I wanted but sold and bullshitted me about every time I asked where it ended-up. Then my mother was willed a 1930's era Sears branded .22lr that I also wanted that my father tried to get rid of. And I was like FUCK THAT DAMNIT STOP IT.

It's funny but I kinda single-handedly got my family into firearms and now my older brother and father both have more toys than I do. My little brother not as much but he still loves his little .22lr. My father and I still reload/shoot together. Also shoot with my bothers when we get the opportunity. Going out this Monday or Tuesday w/dad to try some hand-rolled .223 of differing charges to play with. Feels good.

I'm a bastard and my stepfather doesn't own a gun. He regularly goes to shitty areas in indy and thinks that because he was raised in a polish irish neighborhood in chicago that he's street smart. His mother, whos' tit he's still attached to, is a former school teacher and a borderline marxist. She lives in a white tower while promoting her shit, typical boomer. I've slowly redpilled him on guns, commies, and niggers but he still doesn't see the need of a gun. Just because he doesn't want a gun he leaves my mother and half brothers defenseless, guy doesn't even own a knife. He always asks to use mine. For fucks sake....

>Live in a hardcore lib family.
>"Guns are bad military is bad violence is bad turn the other cheek and take it" shoved down my throat my whole life.
>That's probably why I became so fascinated with guns.
>Asked my dad for a 22lr rifle when I was 15
>He has an unholy fucking fit infront of the whole family over it. Actually calls me a "Murderer in the works" for wanting a gun.
>Officially the black sheep now.
>Relationship with family falls apart because teen me thinks that lib wimps deserve no respect.
>First day I turn 18 I go a gun store for the first time. Didn't have enough cash for much.
>Gunstore owner's son was a next level cool guy, so he "bought" one of the S&W 686s they had, then did a "private sale" to me down the road from the store after he heard my story.
>Skirting the law really hard there, but I didn't care. I now had a real pistol.
>Family never knew until my cunt sister opened a package for me full of 357 mag and 38 spl
>Another unholy fight. Parents threaten to call the police. Tell them to do it.
>They never did.
>Move out a month later and they never try to reach out to me again.
>6 years later, present day, get an angry phone call from my mom a month ago when they found out I didn't invite them to my wedding.
>Thinking about remaining petty and still not inviting them.

I've IRL met a few internet friends, but nobody I haven't known for years. So far the social dynamic is about 50/50 favoring screen names/real names IRL. If that's all you ever knew someone as, it can be hard to call them something else.

That aside, an alias for a cold Meetup like that is probably wise.

I wish my dad is an antigun shitbag who was shocked and appalled that i owned a gun, he also got "honorably discharged, under dishonorable circumstances" after fucking up as an army captain so much it hurt .

No, my uncle bought me my first gun, taught me everything i know about them.

first gun was a browning lever action .22 i got for my... 13th birthday i think., helped me buy a nugget when i was 18, bought me my first handgun, and were both getting our CC permits soon. Pic related, its the handgun

No. He gave my idiot cousin a gun. While I was away at college. Grandpa's 10 gauge SxS. Fucker pawned it before I found out.
>>
>>34555638
Assuming (stupidly) that this is true? FUCK them. Keep them far the fuck away from you and yours. Hardcore antigun nutbars like that have no place in the life of someone who has an interest in guns and wants to share it with his kids. Congratulations, don't let commies ruin your day. It's yours as much as hers, bro.
