If I only had a collector's piece and I needed a working gun(working as in one I'd use for an actual task like CCW). I'd sell the collector's piece and buy something modern that was suitable to my requirements. I wouldn't trust my life to 75yr old parts unless I had no choice.

I'd say so. P38s are one of those guns you get as a curiosity in a collection. Better to upgrade now and regret later than potentially leave your life in the hands of a single-stack handgun from WWII. There are better things out there now. Go shop around.

This is what I figured. I'm a huge wehraboo, but it's a mix master P38, so it has no collector value, so I was thinking a hand gun with a double stack mag capability would serve me better in the long run.
