>getting Ruger 10/22 as a first gun

I figure it would be a good place to start, .22 is easy to get, very customizable. Going for polymer stock. Thoughts, /k/?

Magpul is a good option as long as you don't mind being a mallninja faggot.

Good choice anon. Don't spend any money on it other than ammo and range time until you learn the basics. If you don't have those down then "better" trigger, fancy optic, bipod and all sorts of mallnigga crap is useless.
.22lr, especially 10/22 is a great first platform. Well done.
>>
>>34512484
Yeah that's a good first gun
>>
>>34512484
Good choice. Get bx 25s and an extended mag release. I think wood looks way better but its your gun.

I would argue that Tech Sights are a worthwhile upgrade even before putting one round downrange. Also what this anon >>34512685 said, extended mag release is how it should have come from the factory.
>>
Is getting an AR as a first gun dumb?
>>
Marlin is better.

Why tech sights when a decent optic costs less.
>>
>>34512484
I get to pick mine up this Saturday, as my first gun as well.
Literally can't wait.

>>34512952
Goin with tech sights and a cheap red dot that can co-witness on mine.
>>
>>34512968
No not at all.
>>
>>34512484
Why not wood?

It doesnt really matter, but if you get wood and decide to upgrade later its worth more on the secondary market.
>>
>>34512484
I got a 10/22 takedown as my first gun and I love it
Only things are that some times it doesnt fully eject a casing (usually on cheaper ammo) and it was over $400 with tax (not super expensive, but kinda for a .22)
>>
>>34512484
10/22 was my first gun and passed down to me from my grandpa. It's 35+ years old and shoots great would recommend.
>>
>>34513387
Do Ruger factory mags come in polymer or steel? I really hate polymer
>>
>>34512968
No, it also fires a .22 caliber bullet with barely more kick than a .22lr and a lot of people who buy a .22 end up getting an AR anyway

I just like also having a decent semi-auto .22 for spraying and praying without breaking the bank
>>
>>34513489
Is Ruger 10/22 magazine polymer or steel?
>>
>>34513504
The factory are polymer and I've never had an aftermarket high capacity that didn't jam like shit
>>
>>34513513
Why the hell are all mags polymer? Even CZ-455 has a polymer mag.

All i want is a basic wood and steel old school .22
>>
>>34513528
Cut down on cost and weight. It's waaaaay easier to thermoform a piece of plastic than machine or cast a piece of metal
>>
>>34512484
Don't get the take down.
Either get the model that has fiber optic sights or get some tech sights now so you can have them put on the gun right away.
Its possible that there are worse sights than the stock 10/22. Possible, but I haven't seen them yet
>>
>>34513546
But freaking CZ 455 is like 500$ for a bolt action .22 . Why are they being such jews?

I cant find any basic rifle in my country this isnt either polymer shit or costs over 800$
>>
>>34513556
what are the cons of a takedown 22?
>>
>>34513586
What country?
>>
>>34513590
Ive been raging against them for a while now any chance I get. Despite following manufacturer instructions and getting it looked at, the slightest pressure on the forend of the one I got would throw off the poi. So I paid 100 dollars more for a gun that performed half as well as a base model. Maybe it was a lemon, but regardless, it sucked. Got a normal 10/22 (with fiber optic sights because stock ruger sights were designed by a downs syndrome four year old) and its been amazing
>>
>>34513597
Central Europe thats is all i will say.

I want a durable rifle that would last me 60 70 years. Something which cant be said about polymer. And yet barely any firearm is made that way anymore.

All i see is plastic shit or 70 year old SKSs which i am not willing to buy for 700$
>>
>>34513646
No slavshit available?

I would think you could get a nugget for little of nothing
>>
>>34513674
Oh boiiiii. I live in a slavshit country and Nagnat is like 700$ if not even more. You then have old ex military SKS being sold 600$ a pop.

And i am not willing to risk buying a 60 year old rifle for that price.
>>
>>34513703
Geez, I felt bad buying my last SKS for $300
>>
>>34513674
>Poor country
>Migrants still come in
>Cant even beat them up since that ended in the 90s
>Gypsies have illegal firearms
>We get cucked by our laws which only apply to us
>Have to deal with rich Americans coming here for sex tourism
>Cant even get a decent rifle to have fun with
>>
>>34513735
300$ is nothing to you but for me its 1/3rd of my monthly salary.

:C
>>
>>34513586
Check out the CZ 452, some say its better than the 455.
>>
>>34513820
Not sold in my country. I have been noguns checking guns for years now.
>>
>>34512484
I want to make a VSS stock. Should I buy airship wood furniture and hand guard?
>>
>>34512484
Get a wood stock fag
>>
>>34512968

Nope. I got an AK as a first gun. No ragrets. Learned a lot.
>>
>>34513407
I think they come in both; but the 10/22 ships with a 10-round polymer mag. If I recall correctly the 10 round mags sell for about $15 for the polymer and $20 for the steel.
>>
>>34512484
I got a ruger 10/22 as my first gun and I kind of regret it desu. It's too boring.

Still haven't bought my second gun
>>
>>34514795
what do you mean by boring
what would you have wanted from it to make it not boring
>>
I bought a polymer 10/22 as my first gun about a year ago. I love it, the the polymer stock is functional but completely lacks character IMO. I got it because I wanted to have as close to a tacticool looking gun as I could get in NY. That was a very silly basis for my purchase. If it were today I would have gone for the wood stock; again based entirely on aesthetics. Polymer is probably objectively superior for durability and so forth, especially for SHTF.
