So these Faxon 14.5" pinned barrels have midlength gas.

But midlength is for 16" and carbine is for 14.5".

I looked and it's actually very difficult to find a 14.5" carbine barrel that isn't just an M4 profile. What the fuck? Why is everyone making 14.5" barrels with the wrong gas length?

That's not an M951. To answer your question though, an M951 is a good light, but you'll want to replace the old incandescent bulb with a new LED from Malkoff. Even if the Surefire bulb works, they have very short lives and it will go out on you sooner rather than later, they were intended to be replaced frequently.

An M951 in good shape, not counting Malkoff replacement, should be less than $100

Two things; dimpling is for aligning the gas block, not for securing it, and red loctite breaks down with heat. Gas blocks can get way hotter than red loctite's limit. If you really want to use a thread locking compound (unnecessary/bad idea) use rocksett, it doesn't break down from heat until something like 2k degrees.

The QMS is literally what it's name is: quality mil spec. It's a mil spec trigger that doesn't have burrs or fucked up sear cuts.

The ACT is a money-burning meme for fools, it's literally the same thing in a different color. There is no demonstrable lubricity difference between it an the QMS. It's just a no-results coating.

I mean gosh, try one, why not, but I find them pretty useless. I advise you to try both, and buy both from a reputable retailer which you can get a full refund from, such as Amazon or Brownells.

How do you hold your rifle? If you hold it like a normal human, you shouldn't need an AFG, VFG or hand stop but rail covers may make it more comfy or heat resistant.

If you hold it like Chris Costa like us dumb fucks, then you can benefit from a short VFG.

If you have a mental disease requiring you to regonfigure your rifle into a new type of clone every eight days, then you could use a long KAC VFG which you never put your hand on because no human can comfortable operate a rifle that way.

If you are a burn victim and cannot feel where your hand is on the handguard, you could benefit from a hand stop.

And that's pretty much every category of hand accessory.*

I only very recently had the money and incentive to become a gun owner. Having a AR period is something I never in my life imagined I have. Plus I'm spreading my cash around. I also have a concealed pistol and a plate carrier. I'm mushing my money out to cover as many bases as possible with the most cost effective products to fit the need. Not flash my cash.

T2 seems better than MRO or PRO anyway, and I plan to get a T2 eventually. In the meantime my PA MD ADS was $210 with mount and cover, and has been on 3 different ARs with almost 3k rounds shot underneath it.

When I bought the PA MD ADS it was the first red dot I had ever bought in my life. I also was putting it on a Hardened Arms upper. A $700 red dot wasn't a consideration, and neither was a $500 one, or a $450 dollar one.

A beat to shit $350 COMP M4 or PRO also wasn't an option, because I could get a brand new PA MD ADS for $169 with a mount.

I sold a 1.5 year old painted&stripped and cleaned up MRO (pristine glass) on EE for 75% of what I paid for it, just a few weeks ago. And that guy who bought it?
