/k/, i've heard that 556 SBRs are shit because 556's ballistics get really molested and become significantly weaker in barrels shorter than 16 inch (therefore not effectively shooting targets at 200 meters or more)
However, 545 rifles don't mind having their barrels cut off to an SBR length as their ballistics won't get fucked much (and being ale to handle targets at 300 meters or more)

how true is this?

it's bullshit. 77gr 5.56 is very effective out of SBRs, and 5.45 is pretty bad as it doesn't have the heavier grain options 5.56 has.
>>
>>34501432
i doubt it seeing as how 545 is even smaller and lighter

anybody tried running 556 and 545 at low barrel lengths to see what would their effective range be?

give me money and guns and I'll have a report by Friday

8m3 > 77gr black hills otm or tmk > 5.45x39 > 62gr/55gr 5.56

Out of a short barrel at least. I'd stick with 10.3" or longer for AR barrels unless you're substituting .300 memeout for 7.62x39 because you can't afford another caliber and mags.

>5.45 sucks because le lighter grain bulletz XDD

5.45, particularly 7N6 and Golden tiger BOTH timble out of a 8.5 inch barrel; 5.56 does not.

>8m3 > 77gr black hills otm or tmk > 5.45x39 > 62gr/55gr 5.56
do you have a single fact to back that up?

Ballistic calculator, nigra.

Whoops, forgot this as well
>Implying that an Armalite platform rifle would run reliably with anything less than a 10.3" barrel.

Not true at all as a blanket statement. The comparison is M855 vs 7N6, where it is true.
>>
>>34501896
m855 is trash
>>
>>34501947
Yes, yes it is. It complements the M4 and the strung out loser carrying it nicely.
