What does /k/ think about the K31? Was thinking about picking one up soon. They seem pretty nicely made.

I shot one at the last meetup /k/ had very smooth shooting and accurate . I enjoyed racking the bolt hard enough it sent the casing into the rain cover.

Imo yes its worth it.
>>
>>34494844
They're pretty fun. I own one, and I guess I could try and take some pics a little later.
>>
>>34494894
Forgot to add its very price dependent though.
>>
>>34494844
They are great

great guns overall. great ammo at .60 a pop which isn't bad now a days. the price has sky rocketed though.

one of the smoother straight pulls out there. I think only a ross rifle beats it.
>>
>>34494844
garbage rod. they were ok when u could get them for $120 but now u might as well get a savage .308 or something
>>
the only milsurp gun a really want.
>>
>>34495436
well memed, frend
>>
>>34495463
thx
>>
>>34494844
A K31 costs ~300-400 and can keep up with $1000+ long-range rifles. It's a good buy for that alone. The history, the really need straight-pull action and match-grade surplus for ~$.60 per trigger pull are all neat bonuses. Only downside is that without imports feeding it will be difficult, so if you buy one stack the 7.5mm Swiss DEEP.
>>
>>34494844
Real fun, like sitting in Grandpas old chair
>>
>>34495436
Ignore this poster.
>>
Where did you get all these beautiful K31s with immacuate stocks? Mine looks like the guy it was issued to threw it off the side of a mountain, repeatedly. Works great though, I can't judge the accuracy because I can't hit a fucking thing anyway with my eyes, It's fun at least.
>>
OP here. Looking to buy one, and wondering if there is anything specific to look for and/or avoid when looking for one of quality?

All the usual suspects, over all condition, bore, matching numbers etc. I personally think walnut looks better than beech but thats me. Also all the mil surp ones will have beat up stocks and water damage. So dont let that stop you and dont forget to check for a troop tag when you get yours, those are fun to find.
>>
>>34495572

I guess one thing to look out for might be a dude saying it's all matching and jacking up the price because of it. don't fall for that shit since I have yet to see a k31 not have all of its matching parts. which makes sense because the swiss never went to war.

you could look for shit like muzzle covers, slings, bayonets, etc.

one last thing is that dependent on the serial range you get you will either get a birch or beech stock. beech was used on the older ones because it was cheaper at the time.

No and no. They are accurate for a milsurp rifle to be sure, but they absolutely will not outshoot any modern nolt action rifle. As far as price goes, try 500+ most days.
>>34494844
They're alright. Sights are mediocre, it's on the heavier side and the ergos leave a lot to be desires. But it's got a nice trigger and is fun to look at. I don't regret picking mine up though I have little interest in shooting it again.

What the FUCK happened to the prices? Like, 2 years ago they were $350 and now I cant find them for less than $500. What the fuck.
>>
>>34495730
No more left to import, so it's all secondary market and collectors that have them.
>>
>>34495675
It's the sights that limit the K31, mine that is scoped actually is more accurate than my father's rem700 in .270, and a few other people's hunting rifles that I have shot.
I know,
>remshit
But it still says something about it.
>>
>>34495675

He said "keep up with" not "outshoot"

There are always better guns out there than something over 70 years old of course.
>>
>>34494844

K31's are good. Damn good.

But 1896/11 and G11's are god-tier.

>>34495730

No more imports, so the prices caught up with their actual value.
>>
>>34495429
Speaking of, what's a good price for a Ross? I really want one.
>>
>>34494844
I like my K-31. I also like my K-11, but I like my 1896/11 most of all.

>>34495730
I've seen full length 1911 pattern rifles going upwards of 900 in very good condition.
>>
>>34494844
>pros
Trigger is pure sex
Accurate as fuck
Cool action
Swiss

>cons
Clunky and fat stock (and it's not like I have manlet hands)
Action isn't all that smooth
Caliber can be a pain in the ass to find depending on your location/situation
>>
>>34494844
Kicks pretty hard.
Is very accurate and well made.
Has an interesting mechanism.
Get it.
