I want to collect strange & beautiful handguns. I like unconventional, artistic, extravagant aesthetics.
What are some good models to consider?
Something like the Luger is a good example of a gun that has an unconventional but beautiful look.

I love early semi autos. I'm still hoping to acquire a Bergmann-Bayard and Roth-Steyr eventually. Here is a photo of my three top-loaders, a Mauser C.96, Steyr-Hahn M1912 and Mannlicher M1905.
The Savage 1907 and 1917 semi autos are interesting as they have a pseudo-locking rotating barrel action and are the earliest use of a detachable double stack magazine housed in the grip.
The Remington Model 51 was designed by John Pedersen and employs a unique hesitation lock (or 'momentum block') to implement a locked breech action in a very compact semiautonomous pistol. The only competitor attempting this at the time was Savage with their delayed blowback rotating barrel action. The result in the case of the Remington is an extremely light and compact pistol with very mild recoil compared to its contemporaries.
Mauser HSc's are not the most extravagant design but I've always admired their Art Deco aesthetics. I've owned four of these pistols now - two .380's and two .32's. The .380's are the least pleasant to shoot.

Type 14 Nambu.
Love how George Wilson's .45 looks, too bad only three were made.
Wow, someone beat me to a lot of the suggestions.
How about this rarity, a Waffenfabrik Jager pistol of 1914, made almost entirely out of stamped sheetmetal
