Don't care about upper receivers, don't care about lower receivers, unless you start getting into LWRC, KAC, and LMT ambi receivers. Picked that stock out exactly, picked out the grip too. Picked out the rail because it was the lightest available rail at the time, and I don't think it's weaker design is an issue since I'm not about to go deploy with the rifle.

About to head out to zero my first actual magnification optic. Curious about one thing though, where it should be seated on the rail. This is about as close as I can get it with the buis still installed. Since I cannot use it anyways should I take off the iron sight and reseat the actual optic closer to my eye?

Any other helpful pointers would be appreciated. Heading out in 30 or so.

Yeah, the Stealth barrels are all "heavy" profile meant for precision. PredatAR barrels are much much lighter if that's important to you. I thought I could deal with the poquito gordito barrel because it's only 12" but I deffo feel the weight and miss the BCM a little.

Thinking about replacing it with a Hanson profile barrel made me just start building a complete lightweight upper instead pic relted

I finished building my first AR yesterday, and I may take it shooting for the first time this afternoon. I used a complete upper from PSA. I haven't oiled or lubricated any part of it - do I need to do that before I can shoot it? Or did the upper receiver come ready-to-shoot from PSA?

well thats just silly but the thing is those "ultra light" receivers really arent light at all, they are like 1 ounce lighter than milspec but they cost $200 more apiece, thats not worth it.

Does anyone else have a Magpul aluminum trigger guard that rattles?

I can stop it by bottoming out the set screw but I guess that is a no-no according to Magpul as you're supposed to leave the screw flush with the tabs.
