Buying handgun ammo for my new 9mm for the first time any tips? Shit brands?
>>34489974
Personal bad experience with Bosnian ammo not feedibg/firing right. Outside if that store bought ammo is fine. Don't listen to the shitpost telling you to avoid steel case ammo. Tula/Wolf is fine just be prepared for smelly discharge and clean up afterward.

I've had reliability issues with Winchester white box
>>34489974
Tons of bad brands out there but my favorite bang for your buck round is Magtech. I use them for 38spc, 357 and 380 as well with no issues

Another Ruger American Compact!
Haven't seen another owner yet.
How you liking it? What Backstrap do you use? Any problems with yours yet?
What holster?
>>34489974
Terrible gun choice.
>>34490149
Nice argument with well rounded facts and sources regarding the performance of this weapon.
>>34490155
>his gun looks like the bottom of my shoe
Sad!
>>34490168
xD meme!
>>34490155
A mediocre offering when plenty of excellent polymer handguns are already in the market. Only newfags would buy an Ruger American, simply because they don't know any better.

yew gowtta bye a glawk brand glawk errr wun o' dem der em en pees if yew wanna awperate

>Oh noes! I'm losing an argument, better call him triggered!
>>34489974
Federal aluminum is even cheaper than Tula steel and has never given me issues
>>34490257
What makes it mediocre?
>>34489974
I usually get whatever kind of ball ammo is on sale to break my pistols in.
Basically anything that isn't too under-priced.
>>34494585
Not him
My only issue with the ruger american is the same issue I have with the new FN
A lot of the internal parts are super teeny-tiny if you do a complete breakdown, which makes it a pain in the ass
Other than that it's fine.
Cheapest brass-case that AmmoSeek lists
>>34489974
Only ammo that has ever given me issues was maxxteck in .380 and .45 so i assume the 9 would be shite as well. Anything from a large reputable brand should be fine provided your gun isnt shit.
Pic unrelated
>>34490257
Hey look at that, some random faggot on /k/ makes claims with no information to back them up. Go figure.
>>34490145
I have the full-sized version and I find that my shots keep going to the left.

>>34490145
Haven't shot it yet I just oiled it up which you don't really need to do but I can't resist playing games with it it's my first and gun I love the extra weight feels solid I used the larger blackstrap feels better in my hand than the stock one it comes with
>>34490257
Fuck off ruger is the #3 gun manufacturer in the US. Reasonably priced not a bad choice for a first gun
>>34490119
Probably will go with megtech the price is right and your the second person to tell me that it's a reliable brand.
Does anybody know how to clear this malfunction?
I was cleaning it after taking it out to the range and must have messed up the reassembly.
i wouldn't call it a definitive reliability test, but I shot a around 150 rounds of cheap blazer aluminum case through my compact never missed a beat.
>>34489974
I use Sig's v-crowns or whatever
I also use Federal.
Granted my 9mm will eat pretty much anything, but I haven't found anyone argue against these choices before.
S&B, Federal, Speer, and Aguila, Prvi are all top picks for me - including Federal and Speer aluminum case, which are unbeatable on price imo
Winchester White Box, Magtech, Perfecta, Fiocchi are all OK - some are dirtier than others, some I've had a few duds
Tula, Wolf, Brassmaxx and every other slavshit rebranded ammo, regardless of where it's made, is on my eternal shit list for everything other than 7.62x39 and 7.62x54r. I've had a squib from Tula 223 within 500 rounds of it, and a squib from Brassmaxx 9mm within 1000 rounds.
>>34489974
Buy a bunch of different types of ammo and see what works through your gun and what doesn't. Then shoot the stuff that works, and keep your gun clean. Shooting aluminum and steel means clean your gun twice as often.
>>34499077
Remove mag remove slide push slide lock all the way down pull the slide back and lock it back. The turn the slide lock into the upright position should be fine
>>34499155
I clean after every use at the range.
>>34499206
The magazine is not inserted and the slide release will not budge.
>>34499231
Can you remove the slide at all and start from scratch
>>34499395
If you can make sure that the recoil spring is centered and flat and start again. Is the slide completely stuck or it just won't slide back?
>>34499231
same thing use to happen to my sr9c.
I think the spring might be too stiff.
>>34490257
>A mediocre offering when plenty of excellent polymer handguns are already in the market.
Most polymer handguns on the market are mediocre. They're pretty much all the same. Buy what you like, noguns.
>>34500322
>noguns
Looks like the poorfags are getting real riled up now, guess I better show you what a brain-dead peasant you all are.
>>34489974
Resist Winchester "White Box", and it shall flee!
>>34499401
The slide is completely stuck on the frame and only moves a few millimeters back and forth, i can not remove the take down pin.
>>34498932
>just oiled it (new gun) up which you don't really need to do
>I love the extra weight feels solid
It's a new gun, strip it/clean it/oil it. Polymer frame makes it lighter than aluminum or steel. Congrats on the new gun, could of done worse. Do NOT sell it even if it's a piece of shit, it's your first and you should keep it. Now you should start saving up for your next purchase cause you can't stop with just one.
>>34501117
Was your barrel fully in-battery when you moved to replace it back onto the frame?
>>34501820
>could of
Come on, man.
>>34497879
Straight left or left and down? Mine was pretty consistent with about 2 inches left and 2 inches low at 8 meters. I couldn't for the life of me figure out if I am consistently effing up my grip or something else.
>>34501885
i think so, also i think the trigger was released.
