Any shield carriers on tonight?
I'm on the market for a good CCW. With the summer rebate going on ($75), it seems like it's going to buy itself. The internet loves this fun.
Mass fag here, so I can't really get my hands on new gen glocks. Also poor, and I can't find a better deal than the shield.
What's /k/ carrying, and do you guys have any recommendations?
>>
That rebate ended. Now there's a new rebate for a couple of mags and some boxes of hollow point ammunition.
>>
>>34484884
In some states it's still 75 dollars not in mine though (ky)

I swap between my Shield and CZ P-07. If you want a good subcompact on a budget, then the Shield is a great buy. Like everyone says, the trigger sucks but it's not unusable that it's so bad. If you want to make your shield into the BEST subcompact, then get an apex trigger and mag-guts mag springs n base plates. That's like $150 altogether, so it is a bit steep for a cheap gun, but do I love mine.
>>
>>34484870
Don't have a Shield, but a lot of reviewers say that the Shield and PPS M2 are comparable and Walther has a $100 rebate right now. I have a PPS M2 and a PPQ ME and they are my favorite handguns.
>>
>>34485123
Are you me?
I have this exact same pistols too. My first ever purchased as well.

Now I've added a sig p238, colt 1911, and nano to my list.
Seecamp is next

I see you too are a refined gentleman who enjoys fine smol pistols. The Colt Junior .25acp is next up for me. I wish I knew how effective the Underood meme .32acp
is, because I would carry pick related if it was good.
>>
>>34484870
Shield owner, get some talon grips to put on it and go for magguts kit. If you got biggish hands get Pearce grip extension to put on flush 7rd mag
Haven't put apex trigger in yet but the stock one is okayish
>>
Mine is pretty fucking neat
Just don't train with Winchester white box JHP
That dogfuck doesn't cycle
>>
>>34484884
states with mag restrictions get a $75 rebate instead

I like my Shield. I've been carrying it appendix under a t-shirt. Makes a great summer carry gun in hot climates. Trigger is meh, but honestly not terrible. I put a Hyve +2 extension on the 8rd mag and carry it as my backup mag. So far the gun has been 100% reliable, would recommend.

>>
Picked one up a few weeks ago. LGS had a sale running plus the rebate on top of that made it a pretty cheap purchase. Put about 400 rounds through it so far. It's a good CC and fun for training at the range, but I'm starting to see why people get trigger work done. It's not bad, it's okay, but eventually I'll mod it.
>>
>>34485915
For fucks sake stop shilling this heap.
>>
>>34485336
Colt .25s are garbage at feeding. Get a Beretta Jetfire.
>>
The current m&p rebate isn't 75 bucks anymore unless you live in shit states. The deal is that you get 2 boxes of hornady critical defense, a mag loader, and two mags.

The PPS M2 is a better gun IMO. Better ergonomics and grip without having to resort to turning the handle into sand paper. Better sights, better trigger, slightly easier to shoot.

Don't get the LE version unless the price difference is cheaper than the cost of another mag. The glow sights are shit and you are better off buying the 8 round mag separately. I don't even like the 8 rounder personally.

Also protip to people with cabela's nearby. They now price match certain online stores. I know a guy recently got something matched to brownells. They sometimes have really good deals on guns.
>>
Reminder S&W rebates typically take about 6 months to process. Be sure to budget for that
>>
>>34484870

>What's /k/ carrying, and do you guys have any recommendations?

Bought a shield. Trigger isn't great. Sights are OK. Capacity is ass. Grip prints almost as much as my G19.

So I carry my G19.
>>
>>34486367
Where do(did) you carry it?
>>
>>34486447

Appendix and 5 oclock. Appendix worked better.

3 of my friends have them and it seems odd hearing you say it prints like a 19. Do you have a gut that pushes the grip out?
>>
>>34486644
You're right, it doesn't print that bad, he's a fatfuck hamgalaxy for it to be doing that
>>
>>34485123
>Like everyone says, the trigger sucks but it's not unusable that it's so bad.
exactly this.
the trigger is heavy/sucks.
i wouldn't shoot it past 20 to 30 yards, especially with that short barrel.
>>
>>34484870
I like mine. And cabelas has them on sale right now. You can get the ported one with an upgraded trigger for like 399. Definitely worth that. Their trigger is ages nicer than the base model. Base model still isn't bad though. Easily concealable and goes bang every time
>>
If you're poor and in MA, then it's hard to do better. The trigger, even the non MA one, is not great but it's serviceable. If you get one now, I'd save your pennies to replace the hinged trigger with one of the Apex ones down the line, and do the whole trigger kit with it.

I've shot the Shields and do like the feel in the hand, but the trigger is not great. It's serviceable though, and with SOME practice you can get proficient with it.

I also live in MA, and carry either a P938 or Steyr M9-A1 depending on what size I want to carry on a particular day.

I have a shield OP. For the price it's a really good pistol. I've shot ~400-500 rounds and I can't recall any issues with it. I also live in a cucked state (CA) so I had a smaller list of pistols to choose from than other anons.

>>34485123
is the apex really worth it? I have a shield and was looking at it the other day. Did you install yourself? Is it simple enough to do?
>>
>>34487523
>is the apex really worth it? Did you install yourself? Is it simple enough to do?
yes, yes and yes, given you have the right tools. I have 2 M&P's with them, just follow youtube videos on the install and it's EZ.
>>
>>34487523
>is the apex really worth it
I think it is. The apex has a short take-up, a crisp break, and a short reset. It's about a 3lbs pull weight. There are tons of youtube vids with install instructions.
>>
>>34487580
>>34487588
thanks my dudes I'll save up to buy it. I have punches and a roll of masking tape so I don't have to buy the armorers tray.
>>
>>34485252
How's the P238? I keep seeing them pop up in the $400 dollar range. I already own a shield but honestly don't carry that often.
>>
>>34484870

If you live in Houston I'm selling mine soon. $400, comes with the Apex trigger/action enhancement kit installed, a set of night sights I took off my full-size M&P (they're about 3 years old, still glow strong, not installed gotta do it yourself), an IWB holster, ammo to top off the mags, and the box it came with.

How do you like the P-07? I've never felt so much buyer's remorse after getting a Glock 19 instead of the new urban grey suppressor ready model. One of the best looking compacts in my opinion.

>>
>>34487835

>>
>>34487835
I like it. With poly CZs it seems to either be love or hate, and I love mine. Trigger isn't great out of the box, and holster options are limited, but those are easily fixed complaints. It shoots well and 2.5k rounds into mine, I've had only one malfunction (Failure to cycle completely, but it was Winchester whitebox ammo so it may have been that.) I know one guy here was complaining about peening on the guide rails of his, but he probably got a lemon because there's no damage to mine and I've never heard of such an issue with anyone else.

Really, it's a well built hammer-fired glock with usable controls if glocks came out of the box well spiffed up. If you want a gun that performs well and isn't a cookie cutter plastic fantastic, the P-07 is for you.

OP here. Sorry I couldn't reply to my own thread, got caught up in some woman drama all night.

Thanks for all the good feedback, night time /k/.
I'm in MA, and as other anons stated, rebate goes on till September in Cucktown.
My options for pistols are greatly limited, but I'll have to look into the walther. That sounds like a good gun at a good price. I am anticipating the apex trigger already into my decision should I go for the shield, maybe even trijicon night sights.

Thanks again, guys. Glad we could have a good, informative discussion about some cool carry funs.

If you can't shoot a shield with a stock trigger well, you just suck at shooting, bottom line.
>>
>>34485915
Where can you get a SCCY for $169?
Are you sure you didn't get it mixed up with Hi Point?
>>
>>34490003
99.99% of people do not have the ability to come close to his amount of trigger time. You're a fucking retard for comparing the average CCer to Hickock "I literally only ever shoot guns all day" 45. KYS.
>>
>>34490109
You can't git gud if you don't practice
>>
>>34490032
I can. But why would I settle for a mediocre trigger when i have the option to upgrade it especially on the gun you should be shooting the most (your carry gun). I've never been the type of person to accept good enough as good enough. Maybe thats just where we disagree.

I'm probobly not going to get another S&W semi auto. I got a M&P9c recently and the guide rod is covered in yellow paint which flakes off into everything. No amount of scrubbing or cleaning removes it. Also my slide stop/release is so stiff. Ive put just about 1k rounds through it and nothing has gotten better.

Then upgrade it, bro.
Doesn't make the gun a bad gun if somebody just deals with the stock trigger
>>
>>34490170
Sameguy, I just had a thought:

I was in the military shooting whatever they gave us and I must say that people who gripe and moan about little things like stock triggers seem kind of spoiled.
Anyone can learn how to shoot and deal with a shitty stock trigger. Why does every trigger have to pamper to people who shoot $1000 dollar guns and are convinced that their lives will be lost if they carry a gun with a cheap trigger

Very spoiled. Very very spoiled

My state doesnt doesn't have mag restriction, from what I seen at cabelas this morning, they're still doing the 75 dollar rebate.
