>neutered mag

Explain.

I keep 20 round mags as my primary in most of my rifles. They're more compact so they fit in my safe and gun bags better.

Also, in the case of an SBR, I prefer them. I want a small, light, compact weapon--that's why I got the tax stamp. I don't want to ruin all that with an extra long 3 round mag. A 20 round mag is about flush with an AR's pistol grip.

>and 20 rounds is a lot of hate.

I still have dozens of high/standard capacity magazines for range use.

>SBR Edition

That just hurts me. Been thinking about making my first trip into NFA land. But it sounds like a pain in the ass. Plus with SB and some of the other braces it makes it even less enticing.

However I'm probably still going to do it. I feel like I should at least have one sbr lower.
>>
>>34482380

Find a store with a silencer shop kiosk, they make it very painless. They'll take your picture and fingerprints right there, and file all the paperwork too.

On SBRs I think the 20s, specifically the USGI 20s look the best aesthetically
>>
>>34482387
So you can do sbr stamps as well on them? I just assumed it only did suppressor stamps

Also with the 41F stuff should I even bother with a trust? Should I just do individual?

Trusts are still the way to go, even if they are less ideal now.

The kiosk has canned trusts you can purchase as well when you do all the other stuff: fingerprints, picture, etc.

Can I easily add someone later to the trust? If so, do you know what the process is?

To my understanding the biggest thing is that when you die it's easy to deal with NFA items on a trust with other since they can just take possession.

What other benefits are there?

Pretty new to this stuff so trying to learn.
>>
>>34482428

>Can I easily add someone later to the trust? If so, do you know what the process is?

You have to make an amendment, but it'll be a separate PDF and can make things a little more complicated.

It's not impossible though.

>Trust benefits

It makes it so that you have shared ownership.

Technically, if I left an NFA item out of my safe and left the house, and my wife wasn't on the trust, she'd be committing a felony of constructive possession.

In my trust, which was pre-41F, most of my family are co-trustees (without ownership rights). That allowed them to possess the items at any time or place, without needing me nearby.

That is still possible now, but you'd have to get a passport photo and fingerprint from all those people too, which is simply unfeasible in my case.
>>
>>34482374
Just poking fun, I agree they are easier to store, I even used 20 round mags for a while at first, I just realized easy storage for a gun took a back seat to me personally, mine is used more for a home defense firearm, so mine sits out next to my bed at night and I just tend to prefer a 30 round mag for more ammo in case something goes down.

I totally understand the arguments for a 20 round though. Better weight, size and such.

Inforce looked pretty nice, but the mount and trigger guard prevented the paddles from depressed, so it was just a weight.

Two stupid questions:

The dust cover retaining pin on my MUR comes out under recoil. Is there any way I could fix this?

Somewhat related, is it possible to buy just the sell deflector, without buying a whole receiver, and swapping it our myself? It seems pretty stupid to have something called "modular" only to not sell the parts that are modular.

>barrels don't get hot even after 10rds, even with a can
sigh...you're wrong
30 rounds of 5.56 heats up this guy's barrel from 68F to 208F, that is equivalent to 293.15K to 370.92K, deltaT is 77.7K
Specific heat capacity of carbon steel is 502 Joules per kg per degree K. A DD 11.5" barrel is 0.58 kg in weight, so 77.7K temperature difference corresponds to a heat input equivalent to 23022 Joules. Assuming linearity between heat input and number of rounds fired, that means that 10 rounds corresponds to a heat input of 7674 Joules, which with a specific heat of 502 Joules per kg per degree K corresponds to the heating of a 0.58 kg DD 11.5" barrel by 26 degrees Kelvin.

This means 10 rounds brings your 293.15K 11.5" barrel to 320 degrees Kelvin.

10 rounds increases your barrels temp from 68F to 116F.

Barrels do get hot after 10 rounds.
Source for the 30 rounds equals 77.77K delta Temp:

>>
>>34485019
Actually I biffed part of the calculation. That guy uses a 16" barrel, so presumably more mass. This means for his delta T of 77.7K that came as the result of 30 rounds fired, heat input would be greater than 23022 Joules since that figure was calculated using the DD 11.5" barrel mass. Basically 10 rounds makes your gun even hotter than I originally estimated.

some caliber changes that are similiar in size to a 5.56 can be done simply and easily, some conversion kits even allow for changes DOWN from your typical 5.56.

Going up really does require a whole new gun though, your talking every part needing to be changed.

your most cost effective bet for as many calibers would be buying a 5.56 and buying a conversion kit for .22 and then a different barrel for maybe 300. blk or something like that. most other caliber "conversion kits" require at least a different bolt carrier group and barrel and at most an entirely different upper. And again, anything bigger in casing or length will seriously require a different gun.

Are BCG's drop-in or do they have to be fitted? I'm getting an AR that's complete but minus a BCG and charging handle.

Giddy is trying to say that "press" means the act of pressing the trigger backwards. Since a BFS fires two shots with a single movement of the trigger to the back he is trying to argue that it would be a MG.

The seller already left by the time I came back to buy it because it was just a few minutes away from closing time when I did

>CO on the chopping block for gun rights
Maybe my head is in the sand, or maybe it is precisely that sort of fuddesque defeatist attitude that has resulted in the slow erosion of gun rights across the country over the past four decades.

We have to actually fight back. We should have been fighting back in '34 and '86.
