How do you travel roads packed with abandoned vehicles with a car or truck? A big enough truck could push stuff to an extent, but any sizable traffic jam will take way too long to clear. For an escape out of cities bikes are imo the best options. If you have a family it gets complicated though. Which leads to strategic relocation but it's another subject.

An old trail/dirt bike if you want a good bike. Something with 0 electrical stuff.

Or a old truck/4x4 car. Again 0 electric. Nothing to break. A nice carburetor and the good old suck squeeze bang blow. Manual transmission, independent belts for everything, timing CHAIN, etc.

But let's be honest. You just wanna larp. In that case buy a wrangler or cherokee, suspension lift it so you actually get 0 gains from lifting and put stress on your drive components. Put some shitty pain on it, add a machine gun mount, cheap light bar, str8 pipe. And go mudding with your hick friends.

Rokon prepper model. It's EMP proof, it fucking floats if the wheel hubs are empty. Wheel hubs for potable water and spare fuel. Power plug on it for devices like phone. Can get ammo can saddlebags, can use it as a small tractor with implements. It goes pretty much any where. Not too expensive either.

Daimler Ferret Scout Car too. One of the amphibious ones. EMP proof, 1919A4 mount, run flats, etc.
>>
>protip: all cars are emp proof

That being said, I'd take something like a Toyota pickup and a KLR 650. Drive the toyota where I want to go, use bike to scout and scavenge until I get where I want to be.

Although some anon said the BMW earlier, I do not trust German engineering, and neither should you. Especially when you don't have the support network to fix it.

If I had to pick ONE, the toyota, but I don't like heading out to collect gas and shit on foot.

Not anything after I think 1985 just to be safe. A lot of fuel injected vehicles have computers and chips in them. An EMP would fry all of those including the parts at the parts house. You'd be fucked.
>>
>>34476635
This. They can found for like 5k and the insurance on them can be less than 100 a year.
>>
>>34477236
An EMP would not fry the computer in a car. Your engine is 4 to 8 steel Pistons sliding up and down in a steel tube. There are sensors in your car that measure the EM field produced by your engine and crankshaft to ensure it is running properly. The computers are hardened against EM interference and all the wiring is of heavy enough gauge that a surge would not melt them.
Repeat after me. EVERY SINGLE CAR ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH IS EMP PROOF. If you were close enough to a nuke for it to disable your car, you would be a shadow scorched onto what was left of the frame.

I love my bicycle.
I have over $2,000 in my bicycle.
It's a Ciocc lugged steel bike hand made from a special alloy in the old steel furnaces of Italy with tubes drawn to less than a millimeter thick. It's got a carbon fiber fork, carbon handle bars, Xero wheelset with 4 races of sealed cartridge bearings, the component set; Campagnolo. I ride minimum of 60 miles a week during the summer.

Here's the thing. It offers little carrying capacity and absolutely no protection and it's too slow to get away from anyone in a vehicle. Sure, I can beat a car across town now but you're talking if there's no rule of law.

No, the best SHTF vehicle is a lightweight truck/SUV and maybe you can throw a bicycle in the back.

Buy a gen 4 (90s) chevy k1500 (the 4wd option of the c1500). Parts are cheap as shit, and they're easy to work on bc not filled with electronics. Hardly anything in them to break. Just maintain it and it will work. Also you can haul shit and camp in the back if you want. room enough for bugout bag, supplies, and a rifle behind the bench seat.

If fuel was a rarity but forests and wood plentiful, you could convert a vehicle to use wood gas - in other words, make it go with firewood.

A disingenuous response, Faraday cage in the simplest terms is a cage designed to have electricity travel on the outside of a device and leave the inside contents untouched. There are many, many tests done on this subject. The worst you'll get is a blinking dash and stalled engine, that you need to restart.
