I learned more about guns on /k/ prior to what I did in the army and actually got to shoot.

Experience just gives a better perspective on things, having good factual sources counts more if you want to be knowledgeable about guns.

Hence why Bubba, who despite having shot over 30 kinds of guns and 10000+ rounds since he was 10, still knows jack shit about things such as ballistic performance since all he and his friends focuses on is muh freedom and bigger guns = bigger bangs.

He's already on top of "mount stupid" when it comes to guns... maybe it'll be a little humbling for him? Either way, it's actually really nice to see a new shooter take real marksmanship so seriously, right off the bat. Normally I just let a new shooter burn off a bunch of Chinese surplus through my SKS to help them get over the "thrill" phase.
