MP here; tasers can only shut your shit down if it can get a good connection. Each taser cartridge has two prongs that are supposed to sink into the flesh of the target. The prongs are designed to shoot out at two different angles in order to cover as much body as possible, and as such you're supposed to aim at about belt level. With this there's a lot of "gee whiz" aim involved. The ideal connection is where a prong hits both your shoulder and another one hits your thigh. This will insure the best taser effect.

Take into account some dude wearing body armor, naturally tasing them becomes much more difficult, especially if they're wearing some sort of heavy clothing. The only other option at that point is a drive stun, which basically just means that you can in fact drive the front of the taser into someone like an old style stun gun. Of course that just means you're gonna have to be within stabbing distance.

TL;DR, tasing someone with armor usually doesn't work as well as you'd want. At that point, the armor should make it obvious the only way he wants to go down is in a blaze of glory.

Copfag here and I wouldn't recommend these as a self defense option for civilians. They don't work half the time for us and we have a bunch of dudes working together to get someone close enough to get an ideal shot. If he's got more than one layer on, it ain't happening.
