Texas knife laws were weird until recently.

When I was a kid, you couldn't carry a fixed blade unless you had a "legitimate use" for it. So in theory, if you were innawoods you could carry whatever. The problem was that the person who decided what "legitimate" was usually was a cop. So if he thought your 6 inch blade wasn't necessary for hunting, you got clipped. Now, it doesn't matter. Come the 1st of September, if you want to roll up in Wal-Mart with a Claymore, nobody can say shit.
