I work at a tourist beach over the summer, there's a couple of people that are homeless and dont seem to mind it much. One guy is white and in his 50s. Lanky as all hell, walks around and asks people every now and then to spare a cigarette or some money. However, this year he now has glasses and looks a bit more cleaned up. He really looks like someones grand-dad and if I wasn't an anti-social dweeb i'd bring in a pack of beers and chill and talk with him.

Theres another homeless guy. Always shirtless and kinda looks like a local except his shorts are a little ratty. Walks back and forth to the 7-11 getting water from a big-gulp and listens to music and chills. Haven't seen him ask anyone for money or anything.

A lot of people working full time shit jobs are actually homeless and living out of their car, couch surfing, or in a shelter long term. Shit jobs like holding signs at road construction sites or picking up trash- temp labor agency jobs. Not the anon your replying to, but I am a recovering alcoholic. I struggle every day with not drinking. It really blew my mind when I quit and realized how much I relied on substance abuse. But I used to work with a guy who got clean from oxy and I am so fucking thankful that I picked alcohol over drugs. While I understand I was definitely chemically addicted, it's nothing like what he went through. One of the best guys you ever met, upstanding role-model with a wife and 2 kids, one of which worked with us and vouched for what a good guy his dad was. Almost lost it all when he got hooked and did when he relapsed after I quit. Alcohol ruins memories and childhoods. Narcotics ruin lives and families.
