Any spring gun will be fine. They're not fast, but they're powerful for what they are.

Just be sure that if you get an optic it's airgun rated. Made that mistake myself, fucked up a perfectly good $400 scope thinking "well it worked on a 30-06..."

I'd buy a Benjamin if you're willing to spend a bit more for something nice yet not overly expensive but even a Gamo will hit fine. Some models have built in suppressors that do help with noise but chances are it won't need it.

There's a strategy to knocking them out in the city though, open a window somewhere on your house where people can't see inside most of the time. Keep the lights off. Set up a table about 6 feet back from the window to shoot off of while making sure there's clearance between the barrel and the window frame (your scope sits higher than your pellet so you might shoot the frame even if you can't see it through the scope be careful). Take your shots from this location event I don't think anyone will see you or what you kill.

Also, if you want to get autistic about accuracy, guns with a fixed barrel (like on benjamin pump guns) you mount the scope to are inherently more accurate than break barrels but either is fine for the most part.

I've killed crows with a Gamo Big Cat rifle using Crosman wadcutter pellets. Just gotta choot em in the head. Not that loud either, just don't use their 1200 FPS pellets. Using the Crosman shit that flies at 800 FPS is quiet and good.

Accuracy is crap. My first gun when I was little was an underlever BB rifle. Not rifled. I could more or less count on a 1" group at 15 feet. At 30 feet I was lucky to hit a pop bottle. And I was a damn good shot. On graduating to a Czech-made break-barrel in .22" I could nail a pigeon at 50 feet every time, dropping them dead with heart shots. Bloody BB guns are for fools. If you want to shoot use a proper projectile made of lead and a rifled barrel with a decent crown.

I'm sure people have this idea of befriending crows that probably comes from this old crow thread from /b/ but in reality crows, as smart as they are, are just rats with wings. They dig through garbage, they eat eggs and nestlings of other birds and are generally annoying. If you befriend them they will chase out all songbirds from the area and in reward they might drop you a bottle cap or some other piece of garbage they find.

I just shoot them with my 10/22 but in a suburban setting I would opt for an air rifle. Chances are that your local bylaws prevent you from discharging a firearm in your neighborhood unless it's in self defense so that probably doesn't leave you with a whole lot of options.

Crows are smart enough to basically be little feathery people. They're assholes to everybody because they want to survive and they'll do what needs to be done to that end.

That means to get rid of crows you use the same methods you use to get rid of people. Kill some crows over a few consecutive days in the same place and they'll stop coming there. Leave the dead crows somewhere else and they'll start avoiding that place. If you make yourself and your property seem dangerous to crows they'll avoid you and tell their buddies to do the same, because they're smart enough to understand and value their own safety, just like you.

Bird or man, we're all just trying to get by.
