Beretta 92FS/92A1/96A1 owners.
I've heard you can put a 92FS/92A1 barrel into a 96A1 as a 9mm conversion, and use the .40S&W magazines for 9mm. Is this true?

I was also thinking, maybe the .22LR conversion kit would work on a 96A1.

This way, you could have one pistol chambered for .40S&W, 9mm, and 22LR. Wishful thinking but I'm not sure how factual these rumors are.

>>34432814

the 22 conversion says it works with all the 90 series pistols, so yes to that

40 to 9mm conversions can have problems because of slide weight and recoil spring strength

you should just give up on using 40 adnd accept 9mm with the 22 conversion for cheap practice
>>
Or you could buy a gun that doesnt suck. This is the real me btw desu...

>I've heard you can put a 92FS/92A1 barrel into a 96A1 as a 9mm conversion
yes. i've done it and you can find videos online
>and use the .40S&W magazines for 9mm
no. 92 mags will fit in a 96 no problem though.

Apparently the 96A1 and 92A1 have the same slide and same recoil spring weight (13lb).

>>34433217
Alright thanks lad.
I've found a place that sells 92 barrels here for a reasonable price (about 40% of the price of a complete 92A1), so I could get a 96A1, a 92 barrel, and have both calibers.
I have heard the 96A1 mags (.40) will feed 9mm, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check when I get around to it, and buy some 92A1/92FS mags if it doesn't. Thanks

If it's anything like glawk brand glawk just don't shoot 115gr and you're groovy.

9mm and 40 aren't the same diameter at all (hence the capacity difference). They WILL feed. But not reliably. At all.

Buy 9mm mags.
>>
>>34433257
be sure you get a locking block if they don't come with one. that way you can switch them out on the fly.
>>
>>34433289
I think I can get them pretty easy, but from what I've read, people are literally just putting a 92 barrel in a 96A1, using 92 magazines , and firing 9mm no problem.

This will make a nice project.
I found out that unfortunately the 22lr conversion kit doesn't work on the A1 family as the frame is a slightly different dimension to the FS family

I have a 90-Two that's a .40 and bought a 9mm barrel for it. I can use the the .40 mags to feed the 9mm no problem.

you can get a complete 92a1 22lr pistol, just not a conversion kit

Depends on which kit you're getting. There are two different .22 conversion kits sold through Beretta. One is the newer version manufactured by Umarex which fits the newer style 90 series pistols as long as they have a slide mounted safety.

What would 92 owners recommend for good quality grips? Not wild about the factory ones. No wood please, it looks nice but the smoothness isn't great for gripping.

Just buy the wood fag

I want something thats better to grip, not something that looks pretty.

you ever hear of checkering?
>>
>>34436211
The amount of the default grips isn't enough, they still move around a substantial amount if your hands get sweaty

Walnut is arguably some of the best material for grips because of it's recoil absorbing properties.
