If the goal of handgun wounding is to get a big enough bullet to penetrate deep enough to hit something vital, why doesn't everyone just use .45 ACP?
>>34428633
because you're more likely to hit something important with more bullets

Capacity
F=ma
a is important
Because people are retarded.
Most cartridges (like .380 and up) do that already.
>more energy
vs
>more chances to hit a vital
which are two entirely different trains of thought (and medical arguments).

Hit 'em mid femur with a .44 magnum
Both the knee and hip can grenade
Causing fatal injuries in some cases

Then why not use 10mm?
>Glock 20 only holds 2 rounds less than a 9mm Glock 17
>10mm is a bigger bullet

some people are poor and/or have bitch wrists

OP has just taken his first step in realizing that JHP is nonsense.
FMJ is better or equal in every way.

Why don't people finally accept that .500 S&W is the new magnum that handguns should use since .50 AE isn't good enough?
>>34428633
The FBI keeps detailed wound/fatality statistics and they are switching to 9mm.
9mm offers good penetration with modern bullets, manageable recoil, and high capacity.

This
I'm not hating on the .45, but when your only argument is that one isn't manly enough it is pretty clear the upsides of .45 are few and far between.
>>34428633
Because people have become obsessed with the notion that they're going to need at least 15rnds on tap for a self defense situation. That is until they get annoyed with carrying a g19 all the time and switch for a single stack 9, never feeling under gunned with it despite the fact that it has less capacity than most .45s. That and this one ballistician got some doctors together and they couldn't tell the difference between gel blocks that had been shot with 9mm or .45 fmj which ofc means they're the exact same wounding wise.
>>34429933
Because there are no semiautomatic handguns in .500 s&w
