The West-African regions France is operating in are all former french colonies. For the most part they're making sure the crazies, mostly islamic radicals, don't take complete control of the region.

My Observations on French troops:

Training generally on par with ours, but lacking in some areas (General fieldcraft) but superior in others (machine gun training). Some interesting CQB methods. They did however suffer from a habit of going rambo and firing on full auto whilst sprinting at a target.
Generally very motivated and wanting to prove there worth.
Equipment's generally good, the helmets, plate carriers & web gear were absolutely terrible.
On the other side, the VCBI was very impressive.
Very very Mobile, unbelievably so, to the point where if you can't be mobile in 10 mins, you're useless.
Ration pack was worse than ours, but by far not the worst
Very close knit, with little difference between NCOs'

There navy equipment seems OK, but have some aging ships that need replacement (rubis (which is being replaced by the dolphin), Cassard and geroges class. Some interesting auxiliary vessels though.

They need to sort out that mess of a carrier, and they'll be good to go.

Air force is good, just need more fuel to get the pilots more flight time.

Final verdict 8/10 Would serve with again.

I'm not him but when I was in the army I served with soany other countries I can't remember them all.
We did a bunch of NATO joint training missions and rotations in Germany, Poland and Lithuania as well as people deployed run into other militaries all the time.

Surprisingly yes, Joint exercises, deployments, training.

most recently did training with baltic states and poland. I was pleasantly surprised at troop training and discipline. Rumour mill is next we're doing the visegrad four.

My old sgt/ Current captain used to be a military attache to moscow and supposedly went on regular ride alongs with FSB before the ukraine crisis. The number of people he knows at embassies is ridiculous.

When was the last time you ate ORP?! Pate hasn't been around since about 2011, fruits went out about the same time. Browns are making a very quiet return but no one is saying anything in the hope they just go away.

What should I expect? I'm 24, I lived abroad pretty much all my life so I missed out on my convocation.

Is it going to be shit? What will I do all day? Will I get to try out some matos? How is the canteen food? I'm kind of excited about the prospect of fingerfucking some hardware, but I'm also fearing that it might end up being just boring talks.

Your JAPD is literally going to be sitting in classrooms with 30 teenagers, mostly high schoolers, and half of them will be mentally retarded. Expect arabs and nignogs, white trailer trash.
You get to spend the whole day listening to boring speeches, watching videos from 2002, and if you're extremely lucky witness a bunch of militaires du rang rolling out on a blank fire "shooting course".
End of the day, you get a literacy test which you literally can not fail unless you're a mouth breathing, sub-80 IQ drooler.

You then get maybe 1 hour of talking to soldiers, looking at hardware, but no touching weapons, and for the love of fucking God do not ever fucking fingerfuck our weapons or be prepared to get smacked behind the head.

You have to understand, the JDC/JAPD isn't a gunshow, and the very basics of military discipline will be told to you and expected from you for that day.
Look up Règles ISTC if you don't want to have a very shitty 15 minutes when you do get allowed to touch a weapon.
